We stayed at CSR during our visit in 2010 and LOVED it! We are booked at the Riverside for this trip, but I am starting to second guess it. (Kind of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude) However, the activities, campifires and movies, at POR sound nice. Does CSR offer any of these activities? I have looked and looked but I can't seem to find much info on it. Thanks in advance for your help!

CSR also has campfire nightly and movies by the pool nightly as well as other activities during the day...

LOVE CSR!! I love how it does not feel crowded and how spread out it looks although walking from place to place does not take long at all... :)

Either way you will have a great time...

I did not know this, thank you! This is only our second trip and we were so overwhelmed last time it seems like we missed so much. Hopefully this time we can slow down and not feel like we have to see everything and do everything all at once.

hehe. My family is doing the opposite. We've stayed at POR in the past, and for our trip this December we're trying CSR! I like trying out different places. :cool1:

Yes CSR has the marshmellow roasting and movies, they just do not have boat or bike rentals, carriage rides, boat to DTD or YeeHaa Bob, but they do have the workout/Spa area and an adult night club. We like both resorts but we like POR more for the extra family activities that they offer. We also really like having the double sinks at POR, especially with 2 lil DD's:) I would give the bus edge to CSR, we have had great and not so great bus stories at both resorts, but I think on a whole, CSR is a bit better.

I am so indecisive! It is hard to tell where we will end up!:upsidedow

The extra family activities are what sold me on trying POR. I am trying to help another family plan. They are traveling with us and have never been to WDW. It is a little stressful because I want everyone to have a great time. Thanks for the tips!

With bike rental, boat ride to DTD, it just sound like aomething a 7 year old would like

Love CRS- I like the bedding (not those icky quilts) and that it has more of a "central" air system instead of a wall unit. The "doors" to the sink area were nice, too. We've stayed POFQ before the renovation (not impressed), but I'm giving POR and POFQ another try. Then I can fairly rank all of the mods ;-)

You're right and she keeps talking about going cane pole fishing for some reason. :fish:

I think that bedding is what keeps calling me back. Just thinking about it makes me want to take a nap! :rotfl:

I think you cant go wrong with either resort but I tend to favor CSR more because of the comfy bedding as well..

After a long day at the Parks I find the bedding and beds at CSR more comfy than even the Deluxe resorts. To me that is the biggest selling point. If I dont sleep good I turn into Grumpy.. :rotfl:

Maybe I could put in a special request for that bedding in POR. Problem solved!!:lmao: I couldn't even imagine the look on the CM's face with that one.

I remember seasonal boat and bike rentals at CSR. It also mentions it here. Do they no longer offer that?

Like others have said, you can't go wrong with either as they are both lovely resorts. We always like trying new resorts though. New resorts, new memories. Part of the fun is just discovering the new lobby, new food court, new grounds, new rooms, etc. I would choose POR over CSR, but really do like them both. I prefer POR's foodcourt over CSR. Bus service (in our experience) was better at CSR, but let's face it, buses are hit or miss anywhere. I guess I just love the beautful grounds at POR. It seems to have more shade, I think. Love the walk along the river. Have fun whichever pretty mod you choose!

I have stayed at both but we are going back to our third in a row Riverside. It is very homey feeling and the people were very nice. I t felt more like we were at home that CSR. But that is us. One other factor to help you decided in POR is a two piece package. It has a sister resort a small walk, or boat ride away. It has another pool that you are allowed to use, a different food court and a different gift shop. The pool is awesome and very well decorated and in this circumstance you CAN take you resort mug from one to the other without anyone really being upset.

Also that boat ride does go down to Down Town Disney and it is more enjoyable than a bus ride as the scenery along the Sassagoula is beautiful.

Piano Bob is awesome and the Food Courts are nice. Haven't tried Boatwrights because we did a pizza night instead. And they are quick to get there. CSR in bright and different but I liked the more relaxed feeling of Riverside.

And it could also be the wife and I Honeymooned there back in 93.

OP - we are doing exactly what you are. We also stayed at CSR in 2010 and are trying POR this time.. pretty well for the same reasons. More family activities, the boat to DTD and the fact that we will get to enjoy the amenties of two resorts.

We loved CSR and I am a bit worried I'll regret it (if it ain't broke.. ;)) but I am also excited for my daughter to experience the Royal Rooms and we will be spending some days at the resort this time so the extra activities are a plus.

I'll be sure to post a comparison when I return! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 ... I agree 100%

Most of my family in our grand gathering wants to try POR this time, so we've booked 7 Royal rooms. I love CSR; but am looking forward to trying something new. I'm going to be open minded about it; even though some of the theming doesn't seem to my particular tastes, it's mostly about being with my family. :grouphug: I'm hoping to be pleasantly surpised.;)

We have discussed it further and have decided to stick with POR (for now--haha). Thanks for all the suggestions!

I can't really comment because we've only stayed at CSR (nine times, with a surprise 10th trip for hubby's 60th birthday this December). I can tell you that we have visited ALL of the other moderates and the only one we would consider if we were going to a moderate for a trip and the CSR were not available, would be the POR-Riverside. :goodvibes
