CSR vs CBR

I'm sure this has been asked before but which of these two resorts do you prefer?

I'm a little worried about CBR because of Pop Warner. We have reservations at CBR from Dec 6-13. Pop Warner goes through the 10th.

The reason I picked CBR is because we've vacationed in Mexico and New Orleans ( :sad1: ) so thought we would try something new. My husband wants to stay at a moderate and really liked the idea of the hammocks and Carribean theme. My husband is all about relaxing on a vacation (opposites do attract - I would be a park commando if it wasn't for him). I also sort of like that CSR has a gym.

Would you change if you were me? Is there a charge to change? I have MYW plus dining booked through Disney. I have 2 DS age 5 and 20 months at the time of the trip.

We stayed at CBR in May and really liked it. Just make sure you request a room close to the bus stops. We were in the middle of 2 and had a long walk either way we went.

Have never tried CBR, because everytime we have stayed at a mod we chose CSR. Great resort. :earsboy:

I would suggest staying at CBR. You truly feel like you have escaped to the islands. You might want to visit my pictures and the FAQ's listed below.

I have stayed at CBR many times as a child and always remember loving it! I have never been to CSR, though. I checked out the website - it looks beautiful! So....hard descision?! I would go for CSR just to try something new. I don't know if there is a charge to change? There might be.....:sunny:

I just came back from CBR and loved it! Everything is so beautiful. You also get quiet pools next to your "island" so you don't have to go up to the main pool everytime. And each island has its own beach which is just fantastic!

We've stayed at both and, by far, we love CSR!!! It's the resort we just keep going back to and miss it when we stay somewhere else. If you request the cabanas, you will find hammocks by the water to enjoy. There is nothing I can think of that I would change about CSR!!! :goodvibes

wow....when first reading this post I was firmly for CBR but after seeing buzz2001's website it's a tough choice....Never having been to CSR so I can only speak for CBR...we had a great time at CBR (twice) especially this last trip which was 10 days in Oct. We loved the private pools allot (note: alcholic beverages are only sold at Port Royal [pool and restaurant], but each island has a soda machine) as most of the time we had the pool to ourselves (AM and evening swims - long trip so no need to rush to the parks and the temperature didn't require the traditional noontime break)...at dusk we would go and feed ($.25 a small handful) the fish/turtles/ducks at the bridges at Parrot Cay...several nights we your lay in a hammock on the beach (note: there is no swimming at any of the beach at CBR if I remember correctly) and watch some kind of light show playing out on the clouds (I think it comes from Epcot nearby)....Port Royal is the main island; no rooms, but has the main pool, Shutters restaurant, shopping, etc, but I don't recall a lounge, so if you like walking (even after a day at the parks) I suggest Aruba or Jamacia (althought Parrot Cay can be a little smelly in the hot weather, but you could still around or take a shuttle) but if you refer nearby go for Martinique or Trindad North (both are 'referred' islands so there is like a $10 per night/room increase) which straddle Port Royal....If there is a downside to CBR it's that it has only 1 real restaurant; Shutters (small but not cramped, cosy, great food [prime rib was out-of-this-world], great service, but I think its only open for dinner) however it does have a food court which is rather limited in selections and crowded (long lines) as expected. One other trivial annoyance is that the main desk (Customs House; checkin, checkout, etc) is separate (but not far, several hundred feet) from the ring of islands. Althought they drive you to/from your rooms on checkin/checkout, I don't think this service is provided otherwise (The nearest 'island' I believe is Barbados)....If I remember correctly, CBR has the second most rooms (Pop Century has the most) of all the resorts at WDW but you would never know it (except maybe at breakfast)....anyways, take that for whats its worth, and do yourself a favorite, if you are (or will be) a regular WDW guest, and have the time, visit the resort you did NOT chose and get some more insight for your next trip. I wish I had done this with CSR last time......GOOD LUCK.

Is there really a bad place to stay at WDW. We have all our favorite but I am sure you'll love where ever you stay. I know I would! :cool1:

Yes CSR is a very pretty resort, but so are the other moderates. We stayed there two years ago and to me it didn't have the Disney feel to it at all. Guess it was because of all the business people walking all over the place, with their nametags and cellphones. We liked the food at the Pepper Market, but had the longest waits for buses there than at any other resort.

Reasons why I love CSR:

The chefs-they accomodated my gluten allergy perfectly, and went out of their way (even buying items at local grocery stores) to help me.

The Pepper Market-a great place to use those CS credits on the dining plan

The business conventions-we got a bunch of freebies at a health fair-obviously not a guarantee, but what fun to get passholders, water bottles, personal fans, and light toys for free-and to see people stuck in business suits while you're on vacation!

The business center-we mailed home our purchases by FEDEX for 5.00 or so-much cheaper than we would have paid at the gift shops, and so helpful & convenient!

The animals-we saw an armadillo for the first time in our lives, when it ran across the bus stop in the rain! The little lizards, the land snails, the tree frogs, the turtles-we love the outdoors and nature and it was an added bonus!

The pool-It's huge-and so is the hot tub-but you also get your own private pool too, near your cabana-and the hammock was right outside our door!

The quiet-no problems with noise and crowds, because it is a business hotel, and those people are in the casitas

The transportation-our bus stops at the parks were very convenient (the first one and next to a bench at MK) and not crowded or slow (unless you miss the bus that came right before you got there, as we did several times)

We've never stayed at CBR, so we can't compare, but we like CSR much better than POR or, believe it or not, AKL! :cool2:

OK. I hated CSR. I found the layout confusing and the staff marginal. The Pepper Market staff really just got to me. I have no idea why they want 10% in service charges. What Service? They bought me one drink, but ALL the tables around me were FILTHY the whole time I ate there. Very unappealing. I had to go get my own drink refill. On my second visit they gave me what had to be the worst table in the place and then refused to let me move so I walked out without buying anything. They told me that a single diner couldn't sit at any of the other tables... it's not like the place was CLOSE to being full either.

Not to mention.... it's HOT in Orlando. Why stay in a desert themed resort??? That is going to feel cooler?

I love CBR, I love the hammocks and the relaxing theme. I like the fact that each little village has a quiet pool and a playground area. The rooms are bright and cheerful...

I have booked CSR this April. I stayed there for a couple of days when they first opened. Back then we were as far away from the main area that you could possibly get. This time I'm paying extra for a prefered water location. I need help with this. I want to be near the Pepper Market and the main pool. What area should I request.

I must also add, that CS has a great pool and play area for kids. It's really my favorite. My kid's liked the pool and play area here better then any other hotel, included the large Hard Rock hotel pool and the Volcano pool at the Poly. I really thought that their Volcano pool was small and not as pretty as the CS pool.

While I must say that the food at the Pepper market was good, I hated the set up. With young children, we needed someone to stay at the table with the kids while the other person went and got the food. Of course everyone wanted something different each time. So I had to wait in line and order and wait again for the food four different times. By the time I got my food, everyone else was done eating and I was exhausted.

The business people do NOT stay in the Casitas only. We stayed in the Cabanas and our building was full of conventioneers! Nametags and cellphones all over the place. Definitely not the family atmosphere we've had at the other resorts.
