CSR Vs. AKL

Are the rooms at AKL a lot nicer, is it worth the extra money? I have CSR booked but really want AKL if it is worth it.

yes yes yes! Just got back from a split stay--(AKL,ASMU,CSR) This was my first time at CSR and it was nice, but AKL is nicer. The beds are bigger at AKL, there is a balcony at AKL, the bathroom setup is better at AKL. And the buses are WAY better at AKL. And I wasn't impressed with the food court (Pepper Market)-too confusing and expensive.

On my family's first visit to disneyworld in 2005 we stayed at CSR. We loved so many things about the resort--the buses, the pool, the quietness of the resort compared to the busy parks.

BUT, after staying at AKL in March 2008, we don't want to stay at another resort! The pool, the savannas, the restaurants, the activities at the lodge; it was like a vacation within a vacation! It was money well spent.

I have only visited CSR but I must say, after staying at AKL...there's nothing like it! What a great resort! CSR is just not for us. Others may love it, as each resort has it's following. But trying to compare it to AKL is like trying to compare the ole apples to oranges thing. My input would be AKL all the way!

I like CSR's pool much better than AKL. The rooms seem too dark at AKL. I like the vibrant colors of CSR. For what you get at CSR, it doesn't seem worth the jump.

I would take any room at AKL over any room at CSR.

The two resorts are quite different, and we love both for different reasons. Bed size: AKL-queen/CSR-double
Counter Service: CSR's Pepper Market beats AKL's The Mara hands down. Much greater variety at Pepper Market
Pool Areas: The oasis feel at AKL is relaxing and the pool is quite large. AKL also has two hot tubs. CSR's pool is large also, great theme, and has a nice pool slide as well as a hot tub.
Animals: AKL has them...CSR doesn't. Honestly, we were quite impressed with the animals
Children's activities: AKL has lots of activities...CSR doesn't. Our DD loved all of the activities.

If the two were about the same price I would choose AKL. However, since they rarely are, and we're looking for a more reasonably priced room this year we're staying at CSR. Maybe next time we will go back to AKL.

I've stayed at both and frankly for me, it's about money. If I have the extra money to spend I would definitely stay at AKL. It's very relaxing, and quiet.

However, I've stayed at CSR 3 times so far with the 4th being in August....and I love it there also. The landscaping and scenery are beautiful and the dining choices are great. The pool area at CSR, I think would be more fun for children, than AKL.

Those are just my opinions...

Our first Disney experience as a family (my first ever) was at AKL. I LOVE AKL! We had a standard room but could see multiple animals in a feeding area outside our window. The whole place is amazing.

Since then we tried WL. Dh liked it better (I guess I can't complain about his intelligence as he did marry me - LOL!). It was convenient but not quite the same - kwim?

This Sept is a quick trip as a suprise for dd#1's b-day. We've decided to try CSR. Hopefully it will live up to the hype, but I doubt that it will ever replace AKL in my heart.
