So the tower that is being built at CSR, are those rooms all going to be regular resort rooms and not any DVC?

Ok, I was wondering. I think I had them kinda mixed up in my head. I am a bigger fan of CSR than CBR.

Before Disney announced lots of folks kept saying DVC was going to be built there but there was nothing to back them up.

I only hope they have some kind of plan in this pool renovation to make it bigger or that they add another pool by the tower.

CSR's tower will be more aimed at the convention/business guests, not DVC.

Good point about the pool, or the need of another one.

Riviera will be a completely separate resort from Caribbean Beach Resort. They will not share anything.

And they have actively promoted Riviera as a separate resort, as DVC, etc.

The Coronado Tower has been promoted as part of CSR, and the phrase DVC has never been mentioned once by Disney promo.

As I've said elsewhere: Either CSR isn't going to be DVC, or they are doing a terrible job promoting it given that it would need to start sales EXACTLY when Riviera does. Worst hype ever.

In all likelihood, CSR and the reno will be used to amp up splitting most convention traffic between CSR and the two convention centers in the Epcot area. That leaves them open to tear down the Contemporary Convention Center, which either needs a huge refurb or to be gone. It's not in prime conference shape, especially compared to the other three halls. But it is prime property for a free-standing DVC.

I agree on all of the above .. problem is that many here over on other forums kept saying CSR was going to build DVC, with nothing more than guessing and no rationale behind it. I will be shocked if the Contemporary Center doesn't get torn down after this expansion. That is some prime real estate they are wasting.

Yep. But if you look at how Riviera's been promoted to date, and how CSR has been promoted, it pretty much blows up those guesses.

Disney can't stick a shovel in something without DVC being a rumor.

I don't think we'd be getting the CSR rooms if it weren't intended to drive convention business - so I will give the concession that Disney isn't really interested in the traditional hotel business anymore ... especially the more affordable rooms.
