Near the Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center, a 450-acre entertainment/commercial district will be built in phases over the next eight to 10 years. The district will include restaurants, retail shops, and additional hotel rooms, all easily accessible to groups holding meetings at the Coronado Springs Convention Center.

Next fall, a new restaurant will open at Coronado Springs—an upscale eatery called Terrazzo. The casual Pepper Market will be expanded.

We just love CSR and a retail area would be great. Also expanding PM would be good for the overflow during crowded times. For us this is good news as it is just more reasons why we love CSR.

Just to clarify... by next fall do you mean fall 2010?

thanks for the information... we'll be making our first trip to CSR in Dec. :cool1: We're all looking forward to it! We've been reading so many great things about CSR.

What I haven't seen are many reviews about Maya Grill. Our group of 10 (5 adults 5 young children) are looking to eat there on our arrival day. The menu looks good, but I haven't seen many reviews. And the ones I have seen are either really good or really bad. :confused3

thanks,
Jen

Probably a stupid question, but will it be a Disney owned retail area? Just wondering if it's going to be like another DTD.

Thanks for the info!

Moving this over to the Rumors & News Board.. it's a better fit there.

This is, I believe, the long rumored Flamigo Crossings development of third party branded restaurants and hotels.. and at least some believe a successor to Pleasure Island in the night-life dept.

New restaurant is slated for fall of 2010. I've only done breakfast at the Maya Grill, but we enjoyed it. We too have read pros/cons about dinner.

Thanks.

Talks are supposedly heating up again about the shopping complex, etc.

450 acres, 8-10 years... sounds like this is the Flamingo Crossings project (which is just down the street from CSR.)

Good news about dining at the resort, though.

Yes, that's the description of Flamingo Crossing. Think of it as Disney's answer to Highway 192 in Kissimmee.

Easily accessible by car or taxi, but not easily accessible on foot or by Disney bus.

Next fall, a new restaurant will open at Coronado Springs—an upscale eatery called Terrazzo. The casual Pepper Market will be expanded.
The news about Terrazzo is from early 2008. See http://meetingsnet.com/associationmeetings/news/four_seasons_expansion_plans_disney_world_0102/

I'm not aware that any work ever started on Terrazzo, so I wouldn't hold my breath at this time.

I guess the definition of "near" is "over two and a half miles", because it is at least that from CSR to the Flamingo Crossing development. DTD is closer.

They've been pushing dirt there for about a year. Haven't heard about any structures yet.

It IS Disney (RCID) land, but they consider it "outside the gate", and is at the end of Western Way on the other side of SR429. It really isn't convenient to anything. You won't go by it to/from any Disney locations, so unless you know it is there you'll have no idea.

We go to WDW by the highway {429}where the Flamingo Crossings area is going to be. For the last 3 or 4 trips to Disney, we have noticed a LOT less action in that area. They were going gung-ho for a while, but since the economy slowed down last year, there is less and less going on in this area. In fact, 2 weeks ago, we noticed that they had completed a road that seems to run parallel to the Hwy. However, there is barely any movement any more, and there are far less construction vehicles around . Looks to me like they just decided to finish the access roads to the area, and perhaps let it sit as is until the economy improves. We will be makling a few more day trips to WDW in the upcoming weeks, and I am curious to see if they are still working in that area. Now, having said that, and this has nothing to do with the posters question, things at WDW are very, very busy, but apparentley people are going for the buy 4 days get 3 free and the free dining deals, but they are not spending money otherwise. And an area like Flamingo Crossings, with all of it's planned shopping, would need for people to spend money, not just walk around. So, I suspect nothing else will be done there until things improve in the economy.

Actually, the distance is almost the same from DTD to CSR as it is from CSR to the Flamingo Crossing area, and it would be faster getting to FC from CSR because there are not as many traffic lights. There are 3 traffic lights from CSR to FC, and there are about 6 or 7 lights between CSR and DTD. Check it out when you go there next month if you have a car.

I go by the future FC site 5 days a week, and have for over two years. Lots of dirt moved around, not much else. There have been a few street lights and such. But nothing but what I assume are pipes, etc being laid as one pile of dirt is moved to another location each day.
FC has been in the works and rumors for years.

Whups...you are right...I was looking at a high-level view of a map, and mistook Epcot World Showcase for DTD when I eyeballed it. Roughly linear, they will be about the same distance from CSR.

Pushing dirt around for a year and no building...sounds familiar...

Isn't the four seasons development supposed to be over near that area too?
