CSR Questions

For those who have stayed at CSR I was wondering how often they got their section choice. Casitas, Cabanas, or Ranchos. How do you find out if a convention is going on? Last question is do you need a car if you want to eat other places at dinner like Boardwalk, GF, DTD? Thanks for any help.

I have only stayed twice at CSR but I got my requests both times.
As far as conventions go I doo not know where to look. I was never concerned with it and we saw a few people in suits while there but it was not a big deal. You do not NEED a car to go to the other places to eat but it is MUCH easier. I always rent a car for my WDW trips just to make it easy as we love trying many restaurants, including off site. It can take any where from 30 minutes to an hour and a half to travel between resorts with Disney transport. You could drive from CSR to the Boardwalk in 5-10 minutes.

Every time we stay there we have gotten our room section of choice. We particularly like the Casitas. We used to love the Cabanas, but the Casitas, just takes our breath away. We also have a particular waterview room that we like to stay in, so that makes our trips even more special.

We've stayed twice and have gotten our choice both times!! As for conventions, there have been conventions there both times we've stayed and only knew they were there because we overheard conventioneers talking during a meal at the Pepper Market. The resort is so large, you probably won't know if there's one going on unless you ask. We have always rented a car at Disney, but in December and May we're not. Just seemed like a bit of a waste for us since we used the buses 90% of the time. You do have to go a little out of your way to other resorts if you leave from your resort......
