Hi there

I am booked for POR in September for 10 days. Having surfed the net as I do I am wondering whether or not to change to CSR. It is getting such a good write up now.

It is only DH and I and we stayed at POR last year and loved it but am wondering if we should try something new as this will be our last visit for a while.

Any advice will be greatfully received.

If you hadn't stayed in either of them before, my automatic recommendation would be POR. We've stayed in POR, but not CSR. We love POR because we liked the whole theme and room decor as well as the food court and shop, and I think the DD boat is a real plus factor.

However, if you've stayed in POR but think you might like to try somewhere else then it sounds as though you might feel you've missed an opportunity to branch out if you go back there.

Have you considered anywhere apart from POR or CSR? Would you split your trip between two or more resorts, or do you want to unpack and stay put? What about one of the USF resorts for a couple of nights to do the Universal parks? Or one of the WDW budget resorts plus a few nights in a deluxe? Or just split between POR and CSR - then you won't have to decide ;)

I would vote for CSR, purely because you've not stayed there before :)

Never stayed there myself, but I have heard many people quote the CSR as being of deluxe-quality at moderate price. :wizard:

We stayed at POR in Feb 2001, and CSR in Feb 2002. Loved POR, but that was our first visit, weather was perfect and we were near the food court and main pool. Loved exploring.

CSR was good too, but not as memorable, I was a bit ill, weather was bad and it wasn't quite the same. However, I think the only difference was less landscaping. It was stunning at night, the Pepper Market was good and the bus service good.

Really nothing to choose, you will have a great time at either!!

I'd look into will it cost you to change & if so how much? That would affect my discison as we are always on a budget. Depending on cost if nil or just a little I'd swap but if a larger amount I'd rather have that cash as spending money.

do let us know what you decide.

Hope you don't mind a Yank bumping in.

I have stayed at CSR and it is definitely a gorgeous hote. It has Spa services, weight rooms a business center and very beautiful grounds. It is also one of the most quiet places, I have ever visited on Disney property and I have been going since the 1970s. The bus service is excellent. The only times the busses are crowded are on Fridays and Saturdays when a convention or two might be booked there. Most of the time the busses are nearly empty. Saying that, it is a convention hotel but you don't even notice the convention people.

Try,if you decide, to get in the casitas section of the hotel. The rancheros section is pretty but it is quite a haul from the main lobby. They have little golf carts going in a continuous loop around the place to give people a ride but sometimes it is quicker to just walk.

I have never stayed at POR so I can't help you there but the biggest difference between the two is the theme. POR is kind of like New Orleans, Old US south stuff where as CSR is more of a southwest theme.

The restaurant Pepper Market is one of the best in all of Disney. It is kinda pricey but you get a ton of food for your money.

If you need some pictures to look at go to the resort thread and look for the thread that has something titles like "Everything you wanted to know about CSR". I can't remember the exact title but you will know it when you see it. There is a guy named Buzz that has taken some very good pictures of the resort.

If you need to have any questions answered just PM me and I'll try to help you or steer you in the right direction.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time!:wave2:
