hello! We are traveling to WDW in late June for 4 nights on the tail end of a beach trip. We are doing parks for 2 days and will have about 1.5 non park days. We usually stay at POR and love Yehaa Bob, the theming, the boat to DS etc. Have also stayed at POFQ in 2015 and loved the quaintness and proximity to POR. So this year we are deciding between POFQ and CSR. Never stayed at CSR and am torn between staying in a place we know we love and venturing out to something new. Our kids are 10 and 12. Because we have stayed at POR a large resort, a lot of walking doesn't bother us much.

Would love opinions. TIA!

We stayed at CSR for the first time in August for two weeks. We enjoyed our stay. No real complaints. But we have no desire to return. On the other hand, we miss POFQ/POR when we leave. My kids were 12 and 9 when we stayed at CSR and they actually prefer the pool at POFQ.

It's a tough call. We didn't love CSR, but you might. :)

If you've always wanted to try somewhere new, this is the perfect opportunity. Maybe it will just reinforce your love for POR but at least you can say that you tried.

A short trip is a great time to try something new! CSR has a central location with above average busing, and I think your kids would prefer the CSR pool/slide to the one at FQ.

Agree a shorter trip is perfect for something new. CSR is our favorite, POR second.

With resort days your kids will LOVE the pool area and it has quick service and mug refill right there. It's beautiful to walk day or night and more dining options than any other moderate.

Great bus service and most central location. CSR is actually the third smallest resort so smaller than POR.

I did not know that - interesting. I'm leaning towards something new. DH likes to know what he is getting!

We are big fans of POFQ. Just got back from staying at CSR because POFQ was not available. My boys are 10 and 12 and they definitely liked the pool more at CSR. Our room was a preferred room, which put us close to the restaurants. The bus system was ok, but definitely not as ideal as French Quarter (one stop.) Overall, it was nice to try something new. I didn't love it, or hate it. The grounds are beautiful and the walk to the big pool wasn't bad at all.

Also different from other Moderates...

Has a Health Club with a Spa https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/spas/coronado-springs-resort/la-vida-health-club/

And if you want you can book Business Class rooms that are upgraded and which have access to Coconino Lounge with breakfast foods, evening appetizers, soft drinks, beer and wine.

CSR Business Class is no more. The building that housed it, Cabanas 9B, is being torn down/redeveloped into something which hasn't been disclosed publicly, yet, but is rumored to be DVC or an exclusive building for conference guests.

:hyper2: Wha-what?

Yes I read the same thing!

Yes, as per Buzz's Facebook site for CSR and the CSR thread here. Cabanas 9B closed a few days ago, I believe. And as a CSR fan myself, it totally stinks.

Well, I missed that one. I knew the permit for the "Room Rehab" did not include that building and I guess I just thought they had a different plan for it's rehab or time frame. I see they finally filed permit for 9B Dec 21. It has the description "Coronado Resort Rehab -Area Development & Building 9B" - def different and a much longer end date of June 30, 2019. Logistically it makes no sense for anything major as it's practically surrounded by water. Will be interesting to follow, but still not seeing anything concrete as to what is happening.

I'm not sure, but I think that second permit includes filling in or changing in some way the retention ponds behind 9B. Either that or Buzz may have suggested as much.

Yeah, BC is gone. Waah.

As far as POFQ vs. CSR, the way I see it in favor of CSR:
  • CSR = better pools
  • Short trip = good chance to try the unknown
The way I see it i favor of POFQ:
  • If you plan to use Disney Springs as a resource, stay at POFQ.
If for a non-park trip you plan to use DS for food or entertainment purposes, I think you still stick to POFQ. Transport in and out of DS can be terrible, and the boat is reliable.

Maybe. But messing with water brings in a new level of govt approval. I personally find it disappointing the talk about DVC at moderates. I think it diminishes both the DVC and Moderate offering.

Believe me I hated buses to DS but have found the new bus lanes have made the commute a breeze. We have however had to wait for space on the boats and been tossed off the boat at another resort because it started to rain. That meant WE had to get soaked trying to get to our resort, it was very un-Disney. They only operate in good weather. While I think they are a great perk, they have not been reliable for us nor a time saver.

Well, husband won this one. He isn't the level of Disney fan I am and when he said how much he liked POFQ and why, I agreed. So POFQ it is. Maybe we will get to try CSR next time and possibly renovations will be completed by then. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

We just stayed at CSR in Dec. and were not pleased. The first room was in the Ranchos area and it was dark and blah. While I know they are renovating soon, we ended up with a room with a cracked mirror and mold in the bathroom. We were then moved to the Casitas the next night and it was much better (brighter and cleaner), but we still weren't in love with the resort. We did like the fact that there are two restaurants at the resort though and thought Maya Grill was very good.

Our situation is the opposite--have done CSR and now doing POFQ. We were perfectly content with CSR, but picked POFQ when CSR did not have our discount dates. Now I am excited about trying POFQ!
