Hello. I little background before I list my questions. I'm planning at trip to begin a year from today :cool1: (Woo-Hoo!!!) Cast should include DMom, Ddad, Dsis, DBIL, DH, DD11, DS8 and myself. This will be my parents first trip since the 70's, first time staying on-site. The rest of us went last June and stayed at ASMu...very nice. We are thinking of a Moderate this time and after doing lots of reading here on the DIS, I've tentatively selected the CSR....mostly because a) it looks SO cool, b) the pool, and c) I've read bus service is great.

A few concerns...How spread out is it? Since it's a "convention" hotel will we be overrun with cheerleaders? Businessmen I can handle, lots of screeming girls with words all over their bottoms, no.

Can anyone recommend a room/rooms (we'll need three, non-smoking)? Close to the pool, but kind of quiet, if that's possible. Close to bus would be good too! Is that asking too much?!

Do you think this is a good choice for our group, or can you suggest another moderate? Next time it will probably be back to the Value's for us, so I'd like this trip to be memorable!

How soon do you think I HAVE to make ressies? Would summer be too late?

TIA

CSR is a great resort that is beautifully landscaped and maintained.

Best pool of all the moderates! Largest hot tub on WDW property.

CSR does not share transportation. Buses are USUALLY less empty because of conventions.

You never know who will be there.

cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

Do you think this is a good choice for our group, or can you suggest another moderate? Next time it will probably be back to the Value's for us, so I'd like this trip to be memorable!
Check out my CSR website for pics, links and plenty of CSR info. We love CSR but some guests do not. Everyone one has a different opinion.

It should be fine.

Once you know that you want to stay at CSR - I would book it. This will pretty much guarantee you'll get a ressie there.

Rooms at CSR can be hard to come by at times. Book it now and then have fun planning! :sunny:

We have stay at the CSR several times with just my DH, DD, DS and myself, and then with groups of up to 45 people. Everyone we have turned onto the CSR just loves it. I don't know if its because of the beautiful landscape and fountains, variety at the Pepper Market, the bus transportation (it is the best) or relaxing at the end of the evening with a Margarita at Franciscos, while the kids are playing down the walkway in the arcade.
We alway come home from CSR we a longing to alway go back once again.

As far as building Cabana 9B goes, we found that alot of people request this building and it may be hard to get 3 rooms together there. 8B is easier to get.
Our preference is the Casitas 3.
We usually book our trip as soon as we have tentative plans. And I usually book a day or two more then I need to be flexible with airfares and rates. It is always easier to drop a day then it is to sometimes add them.

You will love CSR, we certainly did! When we booked CSR we did so (through an agent) because POFQ (our 'old' favourite resort) was closed, but then it reopened but we decided to stick with CSR and we are so glad we did. It is a large resort but nowhere near as large as I thought it would be from various reports I'd seen - I guess everyone is different. It would take us around 5 minutes to walk from Casitas 4 to the main building, or the same time in other direction to the dig site. We used to talk around the lake every day to look at the other sections and it would take us around 20 minutes to do this. We are not over fast walkers (my DF is 68 and my DM is 60!) but we are used to walking so it really was no problem for us. There was a large convention when we were there but we didn't really notice as we were at the parks during the day and then at night we would go out for a meal and stop back at Fanciscos for a drink or 2 (and it was nearly always quiet). We received first class service from everyone at CSR and I cannot praise the resort enough, it was the best resort we have stayed at (even beat the service at the GF when we stayed there).

So true! We started 4 months ago trying to reserve a room there for our trip in May and found that they had no availability for our dates. This resort is fantastic! Im sure you will love it! Have a great trip :sunny:

I LOVE the CSR and will have a hard time be talked into staying somewhere else. It's quiet, beautiful, relaxing, and IMO, it is NOT spread out at all. BOOK IT! :)

Thanks to one and all for all of the info! I checked out your website days ago Mario, that's what made me choose CSR! :) To verify...the Pepper Market and other restaurants are in the main building? The DIG is the big swimming pool? Is there more than one pool? I have an UG with maps, but my SIL has it and is at WDW now...can't wait to buy the new one for next year. :Pinkbounc Are all of the rooms in the different buildings laid out the same? Are the Cabanas the best--do they cost more than the others?

Are there any special events that happen at CSR? Maybe I better go read Mario's website in greater detail!

Thanks again! As soon as I get a little verification from other family members, I plan to make ressies.

The Pepper Market and the other restaurants are located in the main building. The Dig Site is the big swimming pool area. There is an arcade, volleyball area, hot tub, snack bar and bar. There are also 3 quiet pools at CSR, one in each area.

All of the rooms in the different buildings are laid out the same with the exception of the colors used. The only rooms that cost more are the suites and waterviews rooms. Everyone has a different opinion as to which of the 3 sections is the best.

CSR is very spread out..just be prepared to do lots of walking.

The only conveniently laid out resorts are the value resorts.

We stayed in cabanas 8A and had a great view of the main area, we were steps from the Dig Site and a bus stop was right behind our building. I think you'll love it. My kids loved the pool!

CSR is wonderful. I could move in there and never leave! We stayed in the Cabanas section and I would request that again. Happy planning!
