I was just on Allearsnet.com looking at the offerings at the Pepper Market and the prices are quite a bit more than at POR. I know they aren't owned by Disney, but did those higher prices bother anyone? We usually grab breakfast each day in the foodcourts. I am on the fence about this resort.

No problem here...

CSR's Pepper Market is the best!!

The Pepper Market

This is not your typical food court. Rather, there are several hot and cold food stations with individual chefs and servers. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert items at The Pepper Market. The following food stations can be found in The Pepper Market: Mexican Kitchen, Wok Kitchen, Soup, Salads, & Sandwiches, Grill Station, Pizza Kitchen, Pasta Kitchen, Children's Kitchen, Beverage Station, and Bakery Counter.

Upon entering the Pepper Market you will be given one meal card/receipt per person. You must keep these cards. DO NOT LOSE your meal card. Once your host seats you they will ask if you need anything to drink and tell you where the beverage station, etc..is. The Pepper Market hosts are NOT waiters. They are there to seat people and make sure their table has cutlery, napkins, etc... They will get drinks if you desire.

What makes this food court/restaurant different is that you go around to the various stations and select food as desired. Once you make a choice the chef at each counter will stamp your card and serve give you your chosen food. Many of the items at the stations are cooked to order. There is flexibility in combining items. This is a great place for someone who only wants a light meal and the rest of their family wants a heavy one. For example: you can grab a side of Spanish rice from the Mexican station and order a steak from the grill station. The combinations are nearly endless. I love the variety and being able to pick and choose at leisure. If I feel like I want another roll in the middle of my meal all I have to do is get up and head to the bakery station with my meal card.

The best thing is you do not pay until you see the cashier after your meal. While you have the card you can get up and retrieve food as often as you want without having to pay first. This is great since other food courts require you to carry money to each cashier every time you want something else. This is a wonderful option for someone that truly wants a casual meal. Alcohol is also available.

Once you have finished dining, collect your menu cards and take them to the cashier. The cashier calculates the total due. There is a ten percent gratuity automatically added to all orders. To me this is well worth the variety, service and flexible meal options. If you are only going in for take out the ten percent will be waived. Just tell the cashier you are only there for take out. Don't forget to tell the cooks you are there for take out so they package your food properly. You can then take the food back to your room or eat at one of the tables outdoors. In the Pepper Market you also receive real cutlery and cloth napkins (Paper ones are available as well) I found the food at the Pepper Market to be of higher quality than your average food court. Portions tend to be larger as well. If you only want to get your mugs refilled ask the host of a refillable mug pass and go to the beverage station. Upon exiting hand the cashier the pass on the way out.

Some people balk at paying a 10% gratuity. Personally the service and options are well worth a ten percent tip. I like that I can talk to the person preparing my food. If I don't want onions on my sandwich I can tell the cook directly instead of having to relay it through a cashier and then hope the chef got the message. No other Disney food court has as much variety. For someone like myself, who gets tired of typical burgers and sandwiches this food court was a blessing. I also found the portions to be larger than that of a typical Disney food court. This is also the only food court where one doesn't have to clean up after themselves. You simply leave your dishes and tray on your table when you exit and a clerk will clear the table. I found this restaurant to be one of the more relaxing ones at Disney. It was a nice change of pace from the endless lines at Theme Park restaurants.

If you get the dining package the Pepper Market is considered a counter service.

Also, if you use the quick and casual vouchers that may be sold places (mousesavers.com has a link) they can also be used there.

If I am not mistakes (someone can correct me if wrong) there is a small quick type store besides the Pepper Market. I don't think that menu is up on allears, but that may have what you are looking for.

The food court is one of the main reasons why I don't like the Coronado Springs Resort. The food was fine when we ate there, and a lot of it was made to order. I didn't like that they tack on a 10% gratutity when you eat in the food court. That adds up in the course of a week.

I agree. This is why we don't choose this resort either.

Stayed at CBR this year. Have booked to stay at CSR next May. Wanted to know if you can go in and make yourself toast in a morning as you could at CBR. There was free butter and jam which you could help yourself to and a toaster also hot water to make yourself a cup of tea(very English thing!!) :cheer2:

Usually we have received enough service to justify the 10%. Sometimes it has been good enough that I've left an extra 10. Only a couple of times have we been ignored by the servers and left to fend for ourselves.

No comparison. The Pepper Market is the best food court at WDW. I don't mind paying the 10% one bit for the service we have received. Our family has never been ignored by the servers. From beginning to end they have taken care of us. The portions are large, the food is fresh and the service is great!

This is why I stopped staying there. Don't get me wrong, I like CSR, but we do eat at the food court a lot and I find the prices are quite a bit more than other moderates. And to make the price even higher is the 10% gratuity automatically added.

I know... take your food "out" so no 10% will be added...but we want to eat there rather than drag our food out. But still even without the 10% the price is still higher than other moderates.

I find the selections not the same like other moderates. I like the selections better at the other moderates.

I don't understand the big deal about the 10% add on... You have people serving you drinks, bring your silverware, clearing your table. I think they go the extra mile to deserve a bit more. The food is wonderful as well: freshy made and HUGE portions. You definitely get what you pay for.

Btw: *Fantastia*, I think you must be the only person in the world who doesn't look stupid wearing a fanny pack.

I know the tip is added with the vouchers. In the past, I think we left an extra buck or a few, but I'm not sure. Do you tip more than what the voucher alllows? I don't want dirty looks from the person who gets the drinks.

Not to burst your bubble but the butter and jam are not free but for those that bought things from the food court.

All of them showed up and not one of them bothered to pay the extra adult fee!

Definitely trying Pepper Market on our next trip. :cheer2:

The food is fresh, the portions large & delicious. The two of us share our meals there. PM is a one of the big reasons we choose CSR.

The only thing we disliked about Coronado was the food court. We have stayed there twice, and although we had heard good reviews of it, we never thought the food court was so great. In our opionion, the 10% charge for the "additional" service was not warranted. Its a food court, you get your own food, what is the big deal to get your own drink & silverware too? We are squeezing in an extra trip to Disney in November, and if I cant get an AP rate at WL, we will be staying at a moderate, but because of the food court, it will not be CS. I will say that we really enjoy the pool, grounds, and pool bar at CS, which is why we chose that resort twice.

I think the Pepper Market is great, no problem paying the extra 10% here.

I didn't like the food court at CSR either. We never received service after we were seated. If I wanted service at the table I would order at a full service restaurant and pay the 20% tip.

Taking the food outside isn't the answer either with the birds that sit on the table and try to grab your food.

We are just back from CSR and POFQ and the prices at CSR were higher per item then at POFQ.
My kids like these Minute Maide juices they were $5.98 for 2 ($2.66 ea.)in the little shop outside of the PepperMarket. (La Tienda sp?). When we were at POFQ they were $1.89 each. Those nice big cookies they like along with the juice, same thing, higher at CSR then FQ. I can't remember the prices exactly, but there was a consideralbe difference.
We are big fans of CSR and Pepper Market and have stayed there several times and never really noticed the prices. But with us splitting our stay with the FQ it was hard not to notice.
I have no problem with the 10% added at CSR, it just that the price per item on the things, really adds up.
We also have the Disney Dining Experience card that saved us an additional 20% at FQ during our stay, and it's not accepted at the Pepper Market. So when we check out at Pepper Market with the higher prices, 10% added, and no 20% discount----- :earseek: :earseek:

We love the Pepper Market and don't mind the 10%. Not to many CM's offering me coffee after my meal at CBR or POFQ. I don't think I was able to get a steak dinner or mexican or chinese or Italian or whatever else I felt like that day. The Pepper Market is not an ordinary "food court". WDW & CSR choose this style to fit into CSR and I think it works great. But that is what makes WDW so great, if you don't like it, you can stay somewhere else until you find the place that fits you best. These boards are filled with guests that try to hammer home their point as the only one.

Try the Pepper Market and make up your own mind, that is the only way you will truely know if it is a place for you.

As far as juice boxes, that's why we do a grocery stop and I pick up all that stuff in advance to I don't worry about those prices.

Special birds that only bother guests at CSR. No other resort or park has them.

:umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella:

This happens everywhere.

But at the other resorts I am not forced to sit outside if I don't want to pay the 10% tip.

I agree that there is a resort for everyone at WDW. CSR is not the resort for me but I am happy when others enjoy it.

I was commenting on my experiences at CSR.
