OK. The balance on my package is due today. I booked CSR AP rate plus QSDP. The CM I just spoke to was the most unknowledgable CM I've ever encountered. He had no idea that the CSR dining was not yet approved or how to answer any of my questions for that matter.

Here is my question...

If I take the dining plan off my AP reservation how long do I have to add it if (and when) CSR is approved AND can I do so with no fee?

I know I'll get a much more informed answer here. TIA

You can add the dining plan to your package up to three days ahead of check-in. If you want to add it with no fee, you must do it at least two weeks prior to check-in to avoid the $10 processing fee.

The usual way it works has been that you don't pay the $50 change fee if you increase the price of your package. You'd pay it if you were removing the dining plan within 45 days of check-in, but not if you were adding it. I do not know if this will change in 2009.

I think it'll work that way with the AP - but if you remove the dining plan from an AP room/dining package, is it no longer a package? And then when you add it back it becomes a package again?

That's what I thought. So I guess the question is... Can you turn an AP package ressie back into a AP room only or will that require a whole new reservation which would not be possible since CSR is no longer available for my dates.

The CM I spoke to was absolutely baffled by these questions.

I think you may be better off holding onto the reservation you have and hoping the CSR restaurants are added to the 2009 plan. They always have been before. If you have the quick service plan, should be no trouble finding places to use it in the parks.

The only problem is we are only going to be there for 3 days and then I have the 4/3 deal booked at another resort. We were just planning on relaxing and had not planned on going into the parks at all. I really don't know what to do at this point.

Maybe you'd prefer to cancel the dining plan, and not count on putting it back on. Especially if your intent was to use it only at CSR and nowhere else.

I do not know if you could cancel the dining plan without canceling the entire reservation. Somebody like Mbanks might know that. You might try calling up and saying you want to keep the CSR reservation, but you don't want the dining plan, and see what they can do - don't ask at that point about putting the dining plan back on later. You'd have to pay a fee if you remove it less than 45 days before checkin, though.
