CSR-anyone not get there "section" request and end up with a long hike to El Centro?

Since we are traveling with 4 kids under 10 we are hesitant to stay at CSR because of the remote location of some of the buildings in relation to El Centro. We stayed at CBR last year and did not get our building request. However, they put us someplace not too far from the food court. We think the Ranchos look beautiful but honestly the walk would be too far. We would love Cabanas 9A or Casitas 1,2 or 3. Just wandering what your experiences have been as far as getting placed near where you request as we may base our resort decision on this factor. BTW the reason we are considering SCR is that we are meeting our parents in WDW and they have a conference there the week after..it would allow them to stay put.

We got our Cabana request during our visit a little over 2 weeks ago. In fact we even got an upgrade to a waterview ! This was a real slow time there, and it seemed some sections of the Ranchos were closed entirely(they ARE a long way from El Centro)!. I think it may depend on how full they are. Make sure you make that your first request! I made the request when booking AND faxed it .
