We had a great trip to WDW from 12/8-12/17 and stayed at CSR... I really need to post a TR on the trip reports board.

We also stayed in CSR last December for 8 nights, and were mostly pleased so we decided to stay again this year. As far as WDW goes, neither I nor DW think it's quite what it used to be as far as service goes... but you'll hear enough of that elsewhere. We really still love WDW a ton.

Anyway, back to the resort. Checking in was a breeze, though a little complex: We had a room-only ressie for Sat night, and then a MYW that started on Sunday... so we checked in (Casitas 3 - first floor which was what we requested - very nice) and the front desk said we could keep the same room for our continuinig reservation. That would have been really tough to change rooms... there's DW & I plus DS9, DD6 & DS2.5... so thankfully we wouldn't have to move. I did have to check in again on Sunday morning for the continuing reservation... and because of a snow storm we ended up adding a day at the end (room only) and had to check-in again that last day... wow!!! it shouldn't be so hard!!! no worries. I like walking LOL

For our initial check-in, the room was ready early, maybe 12:00 noon or so. The room had a little foul odor near the sink in the carpets... probably just from a billion people stepping out of the shower and getting ready while still damp. The shower did have mildew on the hand-rail and also in the grout in between the tile. Other than that the room appeared in good order.

Unfortunately the refrigerator did not work, and it took 3 days and 4 calls to get it straightened out. First they wanted to adjust it, then the next call different staff starts all over w/ me again with how it's probably on the wrong setting... they still want me to adjust it (milk has now gone sour again) Finally they changed it out and it didn't work again only to find out somebody either lied or misunderstood since it was never changed out (more spoiled food). Eventually they replaced the unit and it worked fine. I wish they would have changed it out on the first call on the first day.

That was really it for the bad as far as the resort service directly... The mousekeeping staff was wonderful. They usually did something w/ the kids' mickeys or donalds which made the kids so happy.

Pepper Market is ok, but keep an eye on your food or there's a brown-headed lady that will steal your order if you don't wait in the pick-up area... I know because it happened twice. Not even the same brown-headed lady... They probably have different brown-haired ladies for each time. It's too hard for us w/ all the kids to order like this. the food is fine, but somebody always eats by himself/herself. If everybody can just be responsible for their own food it's fine... 3 young children??? I don't think so.

We did laundry one night. The facilities are good and pretty near empty. We love the resort grounds. We also like the new cafe they have... it's better than picking up a to-go muffin or soda whatever from the Pepper Market... simpler and faster and the selection is pretty good.

We didn't use the pool or playground or the onsite table-service restaurant so no comment.

For the record there was a fair bit of partying going on. It was really bad one night until 3:45am the next room over when I finally called the front desk to complain... the neighbors were participants of the Salsa Convention and were young people having fun... but at the expense of my sleep which did not make me happy at all :( Have fun all you want, but please do it more quietly!!! The other thing was a younger adult (early 20's) who was so drunk he walked into a garbage can and knocked it and himself over... I really am against this partying scene at a Disney resort... sorry folks. Disney really ropes in using 'family-style' advertising, and when I get there I don't expect having to tell my kids several times to nevermind the F-word and the drunk folks. It's not everywhere or all the time, but at least 4 or 5 times it was drunking-related... that's a Disney culture problem. If they want adult atmosphere, they should quit advertising it for families with small kids and let everybody know that's what it is. I know, I know... my kids need to know the real world.

Ok... enough for now. I know there were some negative comments, but all the good things would have filled up 3 pages!!! We will probably not stay at CSR again. I think we are out-growing our ability to sleep all in 1 room. I probably won't spring for a suite (maybe DVC points rental @ DVC resort) but we'll probably stay offsite if we're all travelling again for this long. Daddy and Mommy need a little quiet time... and a door to shut out the droning noise of the 3 kids we brought into the world!!! LOL Or how about 2 bathrooms, or a little lounging area...

We had a great time, I hope you get a little something out of my ramblings from CSR. It's a great resort: reasonably priced, beautiful, and very accomodating. We'll miss you, CSR!!!

Sorry about your experiences, especially with the drunks/partying. Glad it didn't ruin your trip! These are some of the reasons why I think I should stick with the value resorts - much more family oriented.

Not necessarily. We have experienced similar things at POP, so really, party people can be anywhere.

Good point, but it just seems to be happening more frequently at CSR. It is marketed as a more "adult" resort, so we shouldn't be shocked that some of that behavior goes on. But some people don't act so "adult" when they get a few drinks in them!

Thanks for the review. It was fair and balanced. My original CSR reservation was during the Salsa Competition and I panicked and requested to be moved. As such, I had to cancel my entire trip, but that's another story.

I really want to try CSR, but I really want it to be when there aren't alot of conventions going on . . . ;)

We still had a great time no matter what...

It's a great resort overall... For us we just need a little more room now. We stayed offsite in September a few days w/ friends and we really enjoyed ourselves... nice house, nice pool, everybody had room. I've done the parks enough that I don't mind taking it easy now. I do like nighttime EMH though.

We were there the same time and I was commented to DH that the resort was so quiet for so many conventions going on. I heard that many of the Salsa participants were in Casistas, we were in Cabanas. The only time I even knew that the competition was going on was that we met many nice young people who were competing at the main pool.

I have been going to Disney for 20 years and I have never known that CSR was marketed as an adult resort, where did you see that?
