Just double checking this really. There are 5 (Disney) adults and 1 child going on our trip. Am I right in thinking that technically CS credits don't differentiate between adult or child?

We are thinking that the children in particular may want to share CS now and again as the portions look quite big and most days we'll have a TS booked as well. If we weren't to use all our credits in one go - say only use 4-5 between 6 of us, would we be able to use them later but get adult CS meals? Or could we be left with the odd child CS meal?

Hope that makes sense :scared:.

as of now ( remember policies can change) CS credits are pooled together
there is no such thing as a child cs credit

the only requirement is that a child orders from the child menu where available

basically they're all ''adult'' credits
some CM might object you paid 6 adults meals with 5A+1C listed on the magic band. ( in which case have one adult pay for 3 adult meals and another adult pay for the other 3 meals, that's if you wish to order an adult meal for the child)

then if there are leftover credits they can be used as you wish
as long as the number of adult meals on your tray does not exceed the number of adults in the room you're good

Please remember cheating the system posts are not allowed.

The rules are that a child must order from the child's menu where available. So if you have 5 adults and one child you can only order at most 5 adult meals in one transaction.

There are a couple of CS places such as Caseys and Yorkshire fish shop that don't have kids menus and this is the reason as of yet they haven't been split.

you raise a very good question about disney dining policy

so, please don't see this post as a challenge towards moderation, but as very serious questions about policy.

Is there a policy that makes it mandatory for a child to order a meal when parents do ?

answer is no.
(I'm not talking about purchasing and adult or a child meal, but purchasing a meal at all)

I'm a good eater, is there a policy that prevents me from ordering 2 meals for myself, or to go back to the food court to order a second meal if I'm still hungry ?

answer is no.

If I can only manage to eat 1.5 meals from the 2 meals I ordered, is there a policy preventing me from sharing the leftover half with someone else (child or adult) who's also on the DDP ? (Or is there a policy that makes it mandatory for me to bin the leftovers ?)

answer is no.

So, the question here is that, if I order 2 meals for one adult, and no meal for the child, but split one of my 2 meals with the child, I'm not technically ordering for the child, so I'm not bound by the policy forcing a child to order from the child menu.

I know it can be seen as circumventing the "child must order from the child menu policy", but can, ordering another adult meal for myself, and sharing it with a child, be seen as breaching any policy ?

and I would think that it doesn't breach any policy as long as I order meals for myself as I'm entitled to, and I don't order a meal for the child which I'm also entitled to

what do you think ? (and once again, I'm not trying to challenge the policies, especially not DIS' policies, those are real and serious questions regarding dining policies)

I think my post has been misunderstood. I didn't want to 'cheat' the system. As it is I think DDP will be too much food for us!!

I wanted to know that if my children share an adult CS meal, as inevitably it will be too much food if we are having a TS some other time that day, as one is a Disney adult and one is a child, would I then be left with say 4-5 child CS meals - presumably we as 'adults' can use these as long as we order off the 'child' menu or does a 'child' have to use them? :confused3.... After all, as Chmurf says, we are all on the DDP :confused3.

Elise was referring to my answer, not your question.

Elise stated the rules in a more "policy friendly" manner.

The rules are that a child must order from the child's menu where available. So if you have 5 adults and one child you can only order at most 5 adult meals in one transaction.

if you are an adult, and have CS credits on your reservation, you can order an adult meal for yourself.

what you can't do is order an adult meal for a child.

but if you want to use all of the CS entitlements for yourself, adult, for adults meals, I don't think any policy prevents that.

ETA : To be more precise : credits do not have a name or age on them.
As long as you don't order more adults meals than there are adults in a room, in one single transaction, you're good.
there is no adult or child CS credit, just CS credits. If an adult uses a credit, this adult can order from the adult menu. If a child uses a CS credit, that child must order from the child menu.

If you have 6 credits for 5A+1C you are not required to purchase 5 adult meals and 1 child meal total. As long as you don't purchase more that 5 adults meal in one transaction, and as long as if the child orders, it's from the child menu

those 6 credits can buy you 6 adults meal (as long as they are intended to be eaten by adults and there are no more than 5 adults meal on a single transaction), whatever you do (buy the child a meal OOP, share your own meal, or let the kid starve (kidding) is your own business.

(I hope this stays inside DIS' rules, if not please edit)

Yes cs credits are not split. We usually have 2 adult meals between 3 of us. You will not get left with child cs credits.

With the leftover credits get breakfast or try and use cs instead of snacks eg get 2 pastries and a drink in French bakery Epcot not use 3 snack credits.

Most people seem to end up with spare cs credits use them as you go if you can.

The Disney rules are clear that children should order off the children's menu. However if you order from the adults nothing will happen. The system does not differentiate between adult and child's credits for CS meals. Or at least it never has done the 7 times we have used it with children. Works the other way too. My DD almost always ordered a child's CS meal last summer when she was 11. Not sure if the magic bands have changed any of this as we didn't have the dining plan last May.

Thanks - I am sure we'll end up with CS credits left! We'll just see what we can do with them if we get to a point where we want to use them. But, as stated earlier, I think we'll start off by getting 5 meals between the 6 of us and take it from there. That is, presuming the little one will eat what the bigger one is eating - which isn't always the case as the little one is a bit more fussy! ;)

Something good to note on the CS meal front is they have at last started serving the nice breast nuggets on the child meals now - I actually order it for myself a couple of times last trip as if was plenty of food :)

Quite like chicken pieces/nuggets etc if they are proper fillets of chicken - not reformed stuff. So that is an option I'll bare in mind!

Do think about trying to use CS as you go rather than getting stuck with them and trying to use them for snacks at the end.

There is no guarantee you will be able to swap them for snacks.

Before paying with snack credits at a bakery or resort foodcourt ask if you can use a CS instead.

Glad to hear kids nuggets are better they used to be dire whereas the adult ones were nice.
