CS Lunch Ideas in Disney Studios/MGM

We are looking for someplace in DS/MGM to eat a decent lunch. All I can find for the CS dining credits are either hamburgers or pizza. Any better ideas?

I agree they didn't have much for cs there! My family loves the Turkey legs @ Toluca Legs Turkey Company, so we might just pay out of pocket there. I can't wait to hear what others think??

Some people have suggested walking or taking the boat over to Epcot or the Boardwalk area, since the CS in MGM leave much to be desired. We are trying to figure out the same thing. I don't know which ones in Boardwalk area would be good-- suggestions anyone? -- but certainly plenty of choices in Epcot, and you can zip back out the back way.

Apparently it's a pretty quick trip (15 min?) either way...

Next to star tours was a good place for a salad!! I cant tell you what everyone had - but dh and my dad had beer and life was good!! :) (I think it was backlot express!!)

Thanks for the ideas of the turkey legs and the turkey panini.

I thought this was a just me problem but it seems that many people are unhappy with the choice of meals in Disney Studios/MGM.

I never thought about meals at the Boardwalk area. I know you can take a boat to there from the dock at DS/MGM. Hummmm...what is there on the Dining Plan that is a CS? I see Boardwalk Joe's, Leaping Horse Libations, or Spoodles Pizza Window. Anyone know anything about any of these?

..or of course, one of the BC/YC places if you head in the other direction. I am very interested in these suggestions as well... couldn't find a menu for Leaping Horse. Would I want to bring ds12 in there?

We had lunch at the Backlot Express two weeks ago, and the food was horrible. I had the oriental chicken salad and it was downright disgusting. I think it had been sitting in dressing for a while, because the lettuce (iceburg) was all wilty and the noodles on top were stale from the humidity. The chicken (what there was of it!) was fatty, and I ended up throwing it away. I ate the other half of my ds6's huge hotdog, which was OK, but I really didn't want a hotdog! I wanted something more on the healthy side. My dh had that turkey sandwich and said it was OK. The desserts were limited (strawberry parfait which was yucky! and chocolate marshmallow mousse which was OK).

I agree that the CS places in MGM are limited. There is one though that has a more mediterannean flare to it...but I don't know which one it is. I think it's in the back of MGM near the new stunt show. I don't know how the food is, but it offers more than burgers and fries.

We got turkey legs as a CS with the dining plan, it came with chips and drink but no desserts (as they had none). I haven't food a CS at MGM that I really like.

The counter service options @ MGM are terrible! It's some of the worst food we've ever eaten in the parks. We usually just get a cheeseburger somewhere as that's usually pretty safe. Last time we ate at Pizza Planet and it was like cardboard with ketchup on it. Ugh!!

::MickeyMo The ABC Commissary has very different things. Personally, nothing DBF and I would eat, but I'm sure lots of other people would find it a nice change from the ordinary. ::MinnieMo

I don't know about the travel times. Is it worth it to run over to Beaches and Cream or EPSN club from MGM?

We love Beaches and Cream and it did not take us too long int he past to go there from either MGM or EPCOT. The problem now is the B & C is a Table Service and not a Counter Service. We ate there with Q & C vouchers and it was so much fun.

But we need to save one TS meal per person to do a show, so we only have CS meals to use for our lunch that day.

From what I can see we are going to get stuck with hamburgers or something from The ABC Commissary, because that is about all that is in the area. :guilty:

Boardwalk Joe's appears to be seasonal and is just more hamburgers and the other is pizza. I cannot find information on the Leaping Horse Libations anywhere.

To us it's worth it since we have yet to find any decent CS food in MGM. The last time we were there my lunch consisted of McDonald's fries from the cart there. :guilty: BUT we've never done the dining plan and pay out of pocket where as the OP needs to use CS credits.

Disney Dining said NO to Studio, Boardwalk Bakery and Starring Rolls- just now (as far as DDP). Back to square one lol!

Now the Boardwalk Bakery sounds better :sunny: but it is not listed by that name on my Disney Dining Plan Location Guide. Does it go by another name or is it not on the plan?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We must be posting at the same time! :rotfl2:

I couldn't find it so I suspected as much!

I guess we all diet that day!

Come on Disney get some decent eating places at DisneyStudios/MGM that are Counter Service Meals per your dining plan!
