for those of you just joining us, where have you been? Didn't your mother ever tell you the importance of punctuality? ;) But anyway, the photo and report version can be found at www.lovemanythings.net/disney/2002index.html

Day 5- Nov 16, 2002

I woke up at 8 this morning, and turned on the weather channel to find that they were predicting showers all day, but clear and cool tomorrow. I stepped outside to find that it was nice and warm, but raining lightly.

I had to leave the henna paste from the tattoo I got yesterday on overnight, so the first thing I did this morning was to scrape it off. I noticed that it had stained the pillow a bit- Sorry, PO-R!

I stopped in the gift shop for a poncho, where I found LONG lines! After waiting forever, I found that they were out of adult ponchos! I decided to go to MGM, since there is a lot to do inside there, and that I would just buy a poncho there. When I arrived, I found that they were actually out of Mickey ponchos, so I got a plain orange one for $5 and joined the Poncho Cult. It was kind of funny to look around and see this sea of yellow and orange people running around!

Nate called, and we decided that given the weather, we probably wouldn’t get to see Spectromagic that night. Then, my friend Katie from Florida called, and since I now had the evening free, we made plans to meet up at Downtown Disney at 6 for dinner at RFC and a night at PI.

I got a fast pass for TOT, but it was a walk-on so I saved it for late in case I decided to ride twice. I must admit that I developed quite the crush on the man in charge of loading the elevators- its just me to fall for the dark and sinister types ;) TOT was tons of fun as always! I loved the drop sequence, and after a bit I literally lost track of if I was going up or down! That was certainly a weird feeling!

Next I decided to check the wait for Millionare, since I had never gotten to see this attraction, but the wait was 20 minutes long, so I decided to stop in Pizza Planet to dry off a bit. My main complaint about the rain was that it made it practically impossible for me to take any pictures, but it was also obviously wet and a bit cold, so it was nice to spend a few minutes inside drying off and catching up on notes. I wasn’t hungry yet, so I just went upstairs to sit among the three-eyed aliens and write.

After a bit, it was back to Millionare. It took me forever to find the entrance, as they had combined the FP and standby entrance, but didn’t really say so. The first person in the hot seat was an 8-year old girl, who got to have her dad help her out. She made it to the 2000 point level before missing her question, so she got the 1000 point prize. The second guy got to 8,000 points, lucky him!

After Millionare, I decided to wander New York Street for a while, and managed to dodge the raindrops enough to take a few pics. I saw that the street sign indicated the street to my right as being “China Town”. I’ve somehow managed to completely overlook this little area before, or else I’ve just walked by on my way from one place to another without taking time to look around. I only wish now that the weather hadn’t been so miserable so that I would have really been able to take the time and absorb it all. Its very convincing that you’ve left the park and been transported to this little China Town street. My absolute favorite was this window of a Chinese meat shop, with chickens and such hanging in the window. It looked so real, and was just such neat attention to detail that I just loved it!

New York Street as a whole is so well done. I kept forgetting that the traffic noises you hear in the background aren’t real, and actually started to move out of the street a couple of times to avoid cars. That’s when you know they’ve really done their job! It was so much fun to look at all of the little details, from newspaper machines on the corner selling the New York Times, to my very favorite name of a shop- “Youse Guys Moichendice”

Despite MGM being pretty empty, I was pretty miserable with the rain, so I decided to go on back to the resort and ended up curing up in bed for another nap. I picked up pizza and cheesecake, at the food court, and went back to my room for food and sleep. Just before I fell asleep, Katie called to say that there were tornado watches and warnings in her area, and wondered if we could reschedule our PI night for tomorrow. Not wanting her to die in the name of fun, I obviously agreed and decided I was probably just stuck in my room for the night. Remarkably, when I woke up a few hours later (I slept from 2:30 to 6!), the weather had cleared! I called Nate, and he said that he had talked to Guest Services, and as far as they knew, Spectromagic was still on! We decided to go on over to MK, and keep our fingers crossed!

Over at MK, Nate and I met up in front of Tony’s, and decided to stop in Pinnochio Village House so that Nate could grab a bite to eat. While he was eating, I noticed that on the wall behind him was Jimminy Cricket, wearing a badge that read “Official Conscience”. I pointed it out and told Nate that he finally had a conscience!

We decided to go find a spot in Fantasyland for the fireworks, and decided on Nate’s favorite spot over by the teacups, which gave us a great view. We couldn’t stop mentioning how exciting it was that the weather had cleared just for us so that we could have our MK night! We wanted to ride TTA in between the fireworks and the parade, so we went over to Tomorrowland. Nate found out the hard way, by painfully running in to the turnstiles, that it was already closed L So, we went over and rode Buzz, which was almost as good. My notes say that the score was 169,100 to 64,000 but I forgot to write down which score belonged to who, so lets just say that I won, shall we? :D

Next we went to find a spot in Frontierland to watch the parade from. The weather stayed clear, so we got to enjoy humming and dancing along to the upbeat Spectro music!

Our favorite was the fish float, which came right over to us and winked! We also noticed that Prince Eric had lost a lot of weight since we had seen him at Fantasmic! I had never seen Spectro before, but I really loved it!

We had just a few minutes before everything closed up, so we ran over to Tomorrowland for a ride on Space Mountain. I know this may give some of you a heart attack, but I have NEVER ridde Space before! Isn’t that insane? I’ve always meant to, but somehow I keep missing it, so this was an exciting first for me! We had a great time screaming like little girls as we zipped around in the dark. What fun!

After a bit of shopping on Main Street, it was time to call it a night. I was tempted to go over to Downtown Disney for a bit after getting back to my resort, but decided to just sleep instead. Can you tell by now that this was not a Commando trip? ;)

ever done......some nights we would fall in bed and turn the tv on and be asleep before we saw what was on the channel........thanks so much for a great report.....you guys all had fun

What a fun day! I've only seen Spectromagic once, and was in awe the entire time - the lights! the magic! :teeth:
