Hello- I know you all told what patterns that you had selected.
My china is the waterford sea horse and I have had a terrible time finding crystal that I like. They have a waterford seahorse crystal which would be fine, but the price of 1 water goblet is 60 bucks! I just hate to ask people to spend that and actually I am concerned that they will not. How many place settings have you all registered for and is 60 too much for a crystal glass?

My issue is that I get annoye when people only register for really pricey things, but I am 30 years old and we have the basics, except for the expensive stuff...help

I think that you should register for whatever you want, but realize that you may not actually get it. If I was going to a wedding, I would not see myself buying crystal glasses that were $60 each (especially after traveling to Disney to attend). On the other hand, I am not exactly rich (grad student). If your guests are pretty well off, then it probably won't be a big deal to them. Maybe you should also ask yourself if you would be willing to complete the set out of your own pocket. Since they are so expensive, you might not receive the full set as gifts. Do you see yourself going to the store to complete the set after the wedding? Sorry I couldn't be of more help...=)

Just register what you WANT!!! and go wild at it. :)
we registered a lot of mid-high priced stuffs but we're lucky to even receive 10% of it lol
our registry looks more like a future shopping list.

I too am registered for Waterford (Lismore), and I say definetely register for it. For one thing, Waterford is one of the only crystal that never discontinues a pattern. This was a huge deciding factor for me. Even though it is pricier, it would be horrible to have china that you could not replace if 20 years down the road you break a goblet. Registering does not mean the people have to buy it. I am suggesting to family members for birthday and Christmas gifts, they can just get something off the registry, as I am very hard to buy for, and this makes it easier for them. Just a thought. :goodvibes

Thanks Texas Court - that is a good idea about birthday and christmas presents, though our wedding is before Christmas...I am usually hard to buy for as well. How many placesettings did you register for?

I registered for 8 total place settings, but 4 will be enough to start with, since it is just DF and I. And even after you get married, if people ask you what you would like for Christmas (if you are close enough with them), you can always suggest your crystal, as it is a gift that you will really use, even if it 1 piece. :sunny:

I agree with the others who said you should get what you want. However, if you still don't want to go with Waterford, you should look at Marquis. Waterford owns Marquis so there are similar patterns. The quality isn't as good as Waterford but the price is much cheaper (about $25 a glass).

What else are you all registering for? I just did Crate and Barrel on Sunday, but did not get much - just a page, but will probably go back after Dillards and Target. You know what is hilarious...People around here get annoyed whne brides register at Dillards, b/c they think it is high....they have a kitchen aid mixer (hand held) for 70 bucks and Target has the same thing for 69.99. I would have never noticed myself except I was researching prices....just to let you know.

I just feel like registering is tricky because you want these things but I do not want angry guests because I want things that are higher priced. Like I said I have most everything already. I just have the cheap college version of everything, so what I need now is the nicer stuff and Ijust feel bad!

I have also been collecting fiestaware the pastels and now am beginning to like the brights, those are not too pricey, so I could register for that too. Sorry I am rambling!

You can actually get Seahorse on eBay for a reasonable price. Just register for what you want, and when it comes time for your own bday or completion where you are purchasing it, you can hit eBay for the amount over and above what you received for gifts. Here's some listed for $9.99 right now:

If you do a search for it, you can find a good selection. Good luck! ~Ev :)

I wanted to cancel the target registry since most of the items are seasonal and doesn't stay permanent too long.
checked bed bath & beyond for crystals?

No our bed bath and beyond is not very big --- I agree about seasonal, Crate and Barrel is like that also. It is a bit frustrating. I really like Springy colors so I loved everything right now, but my wedding is not until November so may favorite things will be gone!

if you think most of your guests are online savvy...
bed batch and beyond does have everything online and instore catalogue, also there are unlimited stuffs to register on amazon
gift cards are always welcomed too :)

We've been married for almost 2 years and we still get things off our registry for Christmas and birthdays. Most of the stores keep your registry open for at least a year after the wedding (that's the traditional time frame guests have to give you a gift). All of ours are still open though, and my mom is slowly helping us complete our china with the serving pieces :)
