Can someone tell me how it works for dinner? What should I expect?

Buffet, the characters come around to your table. You are not rushed, even after the characters have all been to see you. Sometimes they get confused and come to your table 2x's . Good food, friendly servers.

We did CP for the first time last year and it was your typical buffet. The food was good and fresh. The characters came to our table 2 times each during our meal and stayed for pictures to be taken with your child individually. There was this little kiddie parade around the room with the characters. The waitstaff was wonderful. We loved this place and are going back this year. The best part was with my 2 year old the characters let him take the lead and he was not afraid of them at all. He still talks about eating there when we take the pictures out and tells his cousins all about dinner with Pooh and Tigger.

we went during December and we are going back to this restaurant in two weeks......can hardly wait.......the selection was awesome and the characters paid attention to hubby and me.......this time we are going with two more adults.........can hardly wait..

OMiGosh!!! They have the best, best, BEST food!! We love the pasta and mushroom dish and the Fritata is to die for. You really can't say that about too many buffets but their food is top notch!

but is it like a typical restaurant where when you sit to eat others are already eating or does a large group all go in at once? Also is it strickly a character place or does it offer a seperate section for non character dining?

Tables are seated as they become available. It is character dining only. There is no seperate area for non character dining.

Crystal Palace seat their tables in a circular pattern. The restaurant is set up like a figure 8 with the buffet in the center. People are not seated randomly; but in the order they arrive for their ADR. This helps the characters get around in a orderly fashion without having to back track to see new arriving guests. Once they have filled one side and the character gets around to everyone they start there song/parade. After that, everyone starts leaving and the whole cycle begins on the other side of the restaurant. This gives them some time to clean and clear the first side while allowing some lingering tables more time to finish up. Often we like to stay longer and enjoy the food but sort of feel uncomfortable sitting by ourselves when everyone starts leaving. Often you hear people complaining about overbooking or waiting in a long line to checkin; but when they start seating they will take a large number of ADR's at once.

Decent buffet food. Loud, festive atmosphere. Fun for kids.

We're returning there for our third dinner experience in July. It's become our traditional first night in WDW dinner.
