OK, so I'm a complete idiot and didn't realize that Disney thinks lunch starts at 11, not 10:30. So I accidentally booked a adr for CP at 10:30 on the 18th of April for 4 people. We all wanted lunch. Now, this is not the first time I've gotten misdirected by Disney - they failed to let me know H&V was not a character dinner - thankfully I canceled without penalty!

So, point - what are my chances to get a modification for 11 or 11:30 on the 18th of April? Can we show up at the CP and ask them if they can seat us for lunch instead?

Will they tell us off? I got told off by the Boma folks in Feb because we were told by the AK concierge (concierge AGAIN!) that they were still taking walk-ins, especially right when the restaurant opened for dinner. (I asked politely, the Boma front staff were quite rude.)
So what's the deal? I really don't want to be told off at CP, but I would love to modify the res to 11am? I'm having no luck on the phone or on the web. Any good chances this late in the game?

Worst case scenario is you go check in a little after 10:30, maybe five minutes late so that you're not considered a no-show and then wait it out. We've never been seated right at our time there so your chances of getting seated a little later are pretty good. Once you do get seated at, let's say 10:45, you might have the characters coming around to see you and the next thing you know, it's after 11 and you're good to go for lunch. Of course, you can also sit at the table until lunch starts at 11 so that you can get the food you wanted in the first place.

According to the Disney dining reservations page, lunch starts at 11:30 at CP. Because it is Easter week did the website/CM at dining reservations confirm that lunch will be starting earlier than usual at 11:00?

Now, this is not the first time I've gotten misdirected by Disney - they failed to let me know H&V was not a character dinner - thankfully I canceled without penalty! It sounds like you're making reservations on the phone. If you check the online dining reservation page you would find that it clearly states that there are no characters at dinner. An exception will be next month through mid June when H&V will have a character Star Wars dinner buffet. Likewise it lists the meal times so you would have been able to make a lunch reservation at CP rather than a breakfast.

So, point - what are my chances to get a modification for 11 or 11:30 on the 18th of April? Can we show up at the CP and ask them if they can seat us for lunch instead? It wouldn't be a modification. You would have to find and make a new reservation for the new time. If you haven't been able to find an 11:30 reservation it is because the restaurant is fully booked which is not surprising since April 18 is Good Friday. What will you do if you show up at 10:30 and CP won't let you wait until lunchtime? Are you willing to have breakfast? If not, it would be better to cancel the reservation before the Thursday night deadline and plan to eat elsewhere.

If lunch is starting at 11:00 then you'll be able to choose lunch foods even with a 10:30 res because the changeover from breakfast to lunch will take place while you are there. Breakfast foods will be gradually consolidated and at the start of the lunch service, lunch foods will be put on the buffet.

I got told off by the Boma folks in Feb because we were told by the AK concierge (concierge AGAIN!) that they were still taking walk-ins, especially right when the restaurant opened for dinner. (I asked politely, the Boma front staff were quite rude.) Sorry you were treated rudely, but no one can guarantee that you can walk up and be seated except the CMs at the restaurant. The best chance for walk up[s is at the start of the meal service or close to the end, but it's not a certainty.

You can keep checking online to see if a cancellation comes up. It's possible since most who change their mind will cancel before the deadline (which will be the night before) to avoid the $10 per person penalty. As I already mentioned, you will also have to decide whether you're willing to have breakfast at CP if you decide to keep your current res and you can't find a lunch res before the cancellation deadline (again Thursday night.)
