So I was on the phone with my grandparents yesterday, and I asked them when I should start booking our ADR's for our August trip--and they said that they had something to tell me....alrighty then, I assumed that they were going to say something like "well honey, we actually already booked them." or something like that. But my grandma gets on the phone and says, we've decided that we're not going to Disney this year  what???? I start crying into the phone and they try to explain to me that they don't have the money to go this year:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad: so I say to them that I looked and we could go the even cheaper option, stay at pop and get free dining and no extra things....and they still said no...at this point i'm bawling into the phone and I just say goodbye and hung up...I cried myself to sleep last night....I really want to go, I went last June and I just miss it so much, and now my parent's are saying that they are going to take us to colorado for summer vacation and stay in a cabin  what is that about?? so anyways, i'm just praying that I get to go for my senior trip next year.....I need some major hugs :(

Sorry to hear about your trip:hug::hug::hug:That really stinks, maybe things will change and you will still be able to go.:grouphug::grouphug:

Sorry you are so upset. That really stinks but it does sound as though you grandparents had to make the decision that was best for them financially. It is tough being an adult sometimes.

I hope you get to go next year to celebrate your senior year!

Times are difficult all around and I'm certain it was a very difficult decision for your grandparents to make. But please call them and let them know you are not upset with them or disappointed in them. Let them know you understand and that you still love them. I bet they are just as disappointed as you are and could use some extra love and hugs too. I don't say this to take away from your pain and disappointment but to say that you can comfort one another.

See what you can do to help them through it and make your bond a little stronger.

Hun, I am so sorry - I am sure you are dissapointed - but what wonderful grandparents you must have! It must have been a hard decision for them to make. It sounds like they love you very much.

I'm sorry your trip didn't work out. Just remember that Disney will always be there and I'm sure you'll be lucky enough to get to go back someday. I took my first trip to Disney World last September and I don't know if I will get to go back because it's so far away and DBF is not much of a Disney fan. The only way he would agree to go back to Florida is if I promised him there would be no Disney :sad2: But visiting the Dis boards and reading about others experiences helps me to remember all the fun I had and hope that I get to go back again sometime in the future :flower3:

Yea what they said. It is always very hard when things do not go as expected. This can be an opportunity for you to grow just a little. It sounds like you maybe old enough to get a job of some kind and begin to save some money of your own. Then you can go with the family and help with the cost or even gift a trip to your loving grandparents. It sounds like they love you very much and being a grandmother myself I can tell you that what they did was not easy or taken lightly. Make sure they know you will be ok in the end even though you are very sad that this years trip needed to be cancled. You have many years ahead to plan and play at WDW if you choose.

As far as going other places for vacation you may just be surprised. Look for the best in what ever you do and that is what you will find. Expect things to be bad and you will not have any fun. It took me 30 years to learn this I hope you can learn it sooner makes life that much easier to cope with.

Hugs and best wishes to you. It will all work out in the end.

oh nooooo!!! I would be so crushed too :sad1: I can definetly empathize.

I was lucky enough to go to disney twice while I was in high school (sophomore and junior year) and those were the first trips I had been since I was like, 6 years old! I loved it so much! My mom promised to take me back senior year, but plans fell through halfway through the year (and she then gave me a hundreds of dollars when I graduated......I would so rather have taken the trip!!!) :snooty:

Im going on January 2010! You can just hop on a plane and come with me!!!! :grouphug: :yay:

this is my first trip as an adult that I paid for and made happen all by myself!!!! I gotta say, there is so much satisfaction in making it there all on your own!

I'm so sorry to hear that you can't go! :( I would be devastated if I couldn't go, and my excuse is that it's my senior trip! I'll be sure and post about some of my experiences if you like. <3

I know you must be devastated; despite the bad economy, I had already pre-paid for my trip this year, so I am still going. But I had to cancel another trip that I wanted to take later in the year; because I didn't want to risk losing vacation time in case we were getting furloughed. This year, my best friend and I were supposed to go back to Europe - so I am devastated we cannot go. I feel your pain!

Maybe they will take you when you graduate. It will make going that much sweeter when you do get to go. Colorado sounds great also.:grouphug:

I'm so sorry, hun! I'm sure that it will all work out just fine. This gives you more time to plan your next Disney trip!

WOW...
I cannot believe how childish that post sounded....did you stamp your feet also!?
How totally selfish you are that all you could do was hang up and not offer them any sort of way to feel better about the fact that they Cannot! afford to go this year....Imagine how they felt.
WOW....is all I can say!

awe come on. :sad2: She's like 16 or 17 years old and she was looking forward to a trip coming up this august. She was ready to make adrs when she found out she wasn't going. If I couldn't go on a trip I had planned, I would cry too and I'm a grown woman. :sad1: Her first reaction was sadness. When she gets over that, I'm sure she will talk to her grandparents.
