Back from my DLRP trip. Had mostly a fantastic and magical time (trip report to come) but I have to say we had a big dissapointment in Crush's Coaster

Me and my Uncle tried to ride this twice and both times to no avail.

We tried Tuesday evening (23rd) at Studios around 5:40pm. Think it was having some slight problems when we entered the queue but 60 mins wait sounded more reasonable than the 80 mins Crush was having earlier in the day. What came after that was 2 long long hours in a queue that amounted to nothing but wasted time.

I know Crush is a new ride but it's about 2 years old already and there's few rides that max out a queue like that (recent example might be Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios though even that had queues that mellowed out after a few weeks).

Anyway after joining the queue we noticed we were not moving a lot: My Uncles been to Disney an awful lot in the last 20 years and figured this was the slowest queue he'd been in ever. We gathered something was up but when the woman on the PA system did say something we couldnt really hear it outside and even french people seemed mystified as to what was going on.

We persevered because we figured they would fix it and the queue started moving eventually though not constantly nor consistently. After almost 2 hours we made it inside the building and were able to see the loading bay. Crush seems to be a continuous loader like Pirates but the CM's manning the ride seemed to be struggling to load people in and out at the speed the shells seem to move on through that loading bay (that or people were a bit too anxious to get on I dont know). We made it around the wall thinking it was almost over and we'd finally get to ride it but then the ride broke down again. I mean not just the ride, the entire system, the lights in the room came on, the soundtrack and character babble ended and there was no movement in the line.

After 20 mins of wondering what the heck was going on a CM finally came and told us Crush was experiencing Technical Difficulties and it would be 20 mins to start again. This was at 7pm at Park closing and my parents were waiting for us outside so we decided to leave. We complained at guest services on the way out and got a complementary pass for our last day which was a nice touch

However when we tried Crush yesterday it was down again as well! So we didnt get to ride in the end. A shame as that made for a slightly bad ending to an otherwise mostly fantastic trip. They really need to sort out Crush's queue issues somehow (though as much as fastpass is good I can only see that option making things worse)

Yes the queue is hellish, a few weeks ago we where there and both parties that we travelled in waited around an hour or more to get on the ride each time.

Unfortunately it looks like it's just going to be one of them things. Just have to get in early and queue your heart out.

Last year when we were there Crush broke down twice too! It also had a min wait of around 40 mins (and that was early Oct so v v off season). I doubt from reading this that we'll get to ride it on our next trip :confused3

I dont mind the waiting and understand its a new ride and popular but the way information was given out was pretty lousy, would of prefered to know why the ride broke down, though thats a common niggle of DLRP I think, Pirates broke down twice in the morning this week and Haunted Mansion before even opening and both times the CM's couldnt really cite anything other than technical difficulties.

At WDW they put a sign out as well as CM's and make people well aware the rides shut, at Pirates people kept constantly coming at the small motley crew of pirate CM's and at Crush they only closed the queue if the ride completely broke down. Though maybe the issue of people visiting DLRP speaking all kinds of languages makes that issue tough for them, all in all if I'm stuck in a queue I'ld rather have some updates rather than sporadic announcements on what's going on

Maybe it didnt help that Magic Carpets next door was closed so that couldnt syphon people off from the queue as well, and maybe once they build the rest of Toon Studios it'll tone down a bit. Next time I'll be sure to get to studios early though

We have been to DLP 3 times since Crush's Coaster opened and despite it looking like a fantastic ride, the queue has been rediculous every time and so we just haven't bothered.

Is the ride actually worth the queue ?

It really is a very fun ride, yes. As said above, hopefully the further tha wds develops the more people will be spread around the park per day.

When we went in November we must have been really lcuky as it said 20 min que but it was more like ten... the que was shorter then that for rocking roller coaster and tot was 90 mins! but crush's was 20... wierd! haha

Anyway, I loved it, but for me.. i wuld have prefered a bit more theming in the "dark"bit, like you got at the beginning of the ride.

Yeah I agree Holly, don't think there's much to look at really and then it's just darkness and getting spun around like a rag-doll.

It is a fun ride though, very fast and a bit scary as your getting thrown around.

It was closed more in January than opened...kept breaking down...they need to shut this ride down until further notice until they can get the thing working...its a joke and a bad one at that!

I went on it in 08 and its good but not worth lining up for more than 30 minutes.

I think the main problem with Crush is that it was never designed to be a high capacity ride. Unfortunatly due to this and also the face that the Studio's have a lack of E-ticket rides means that there is added visitors to this attraction.

Hopefully with the addition of the rumored Toy Story Land this may lessen the amount of people wanting to ride Crush

Never had a problem with queuing for Crush 15-20 mins everytime i have been.

I do wish they had really thought about the impact on how many people would of wanted to ride and sorted out a FP system that works.

When we went last month the queue was a nightmare as well, 60-80 mins everytime we saw it.

On the last day, we said we better do it (well I wanted to), so as soon as Hollywood Studios opened we made a beeline for it, and already the queue was 60 minutes!! Plus it went all the way out the actual queue line.

Was about 75 mins we waited, all the time my BF is moaning that it's a kids ride and why the hell are we bothering!

Both enjoyed it in the end, was quite funny, totally wasn't expecting it!

In all my visits to Disney I have only been on this ride twice, I've lost count the number of times its been shut for technical reasons and I hate the fact that if you do want to ride you have to start queuing at 9.30am, I like to be at rope drop within the park to be the first on other rides but it seems if you want to ride crush you have to give that up.

I will try again to ride Crush in Aug but I tinhk it might be only the once I get on it, I'm not prepared to queue for 2 hours or more!!

I wish they would sort out a Fast Pass system or something!!

We only managed to ride Crush once in 6 days because the queue was always over 50min the rest of the time. The day we did ride we went straight to this park at opening time and waiting from 9.45am. They really need a fast pass system for this attraction. It's the only rollercoaster without one.

IMO Crush is a lot over-rated but that's just me of course.
We had never had problems riding it though, the queues were always long but not *awful*.
I agree with Emma anyway, it was just not designed to be a high impact ride.

They really need a fast pass system for this attraction. It's the only rollercoaster without one.

The two trials of Fastpass for Crush have not been successful at all. All is does is to massivley increase the standby queue for the ride to over 180 minutes and also pushed the waiting times for Flying Carpets and Cars through the roof as well.

I don't think that a Fastpass system would ever be used permanantly for Crush...I think it's far too low capacity to handle a Fastpass system.

I was kind of neutral on FP, seeing both sides of the arguements until last year.

Last August, we were in the Studios when they were testing FP on Crush Coaster. On one day that they were not testing it, the standby for Crush was 60 mins, Cars 15, Tram Tour 15, ToT 10, and RNRC a walk on. The park was pleasant, and the shops and counter service restaurants were moderately crowded.

Fastforward 2 days, we went to the Studios (I had it confirmed the crowd levels through the gate was similar). They were testing FP. Studio 1 was very crowded. Standby for Crush was 1hour 45 min, Tram tour, 40, TOT 60, Cars 40, and RNRC 25. It was the same time frame as well, as Moteurs Action was not interferring. The shops and restaurants were rammed, and the tempers were riding high.

We got in line for FPs, the clock said return time 1pm. we waited 20 mins for FP's and when we finally got them, they were for 4pm which clashed with our dining reservations at Walt's. So we didn't go on Crush.

Bottom line, this proved to me the negative impact FP has on the parks, and the fact they ran several tests during peak and off peak last year, and abandoned the idea of introducing FP to Crush demonstrates the concept is flawed. And now we are getting some carnival rides to up capacity in the area....ughhhhhhhhh

When I went to a preview of this the ride broke down. I couldn't complain as I was on a free hopper pass. When we went last week the queue said 40 minutes, we decided to go for it & was on in 25.

Its still a popular ride 2 years on.

Welcome back :wave2: shame you didn't get to ride Crush. We've only managed it twice by queueing first thing when the park opens.

If it's any consolation, IMO I don't think you're missing much. ;)

Last summer we sacrificed some of our precious MK EMH to get over to the studios for opening for crush. Even with that we still had a 60 minute queue, which becamse 90 when the ride broke down as we got to the top of the set of steps that come down out of the hut! We had gotten so close to the front that we stayed put, and after them turning all the lights on and resetting the system we finally got to ride!

This last trip was quiet season so we only had to queue in the undercover and inside part of the line really. Certainly seemed funner than after a 90 minute wait, but I'd much rather go on all of the MK rides, or stitch live, or ToT!
