I do not have enough points for our entire family of four to do the 7 day Magic, but I do have enough to cover one adult. When you have a part points/part cash reservation, does this cruise need to be booked through DCL, or is it possible to book this through Dreams Unlimited, which tends to have much better prices.

You will have to book the entire cruise through DVC. As a note, DVC usually had higher pricings then available to the general public. This is because DVC negotiates rates with DCL, which are higher than the Early Booking Savings, but lower than full price. Be prepared for sticker shock when you call DVC for a quote. I thought about it, got a quote from DVC and then decided to pay cash. Using points was only going to save me $1000, and it was costing me 200 points, not worth it!!!

When we went on the cruise we used Dreams Unlimited Travel

They gave us a price that saved us over $1500 for the four-night cruise, allowing us to extend our trip by two more days at WDW. Check the price of the cruise at the Disney site, then get a quote from Dreams Unlimited. Great service and no hassles. We will definitely use them again (assuming we don't use our points next time).
