We have used points to cruise before and understand that it may not be the best value. However, my question is in regards to a rule I read that states something to the effect that points cannot be used for cruises in the last 4 months of your use year.

Does this mean that if we have a December use year that we cannot use points for a cruise in October or November? That we can only cruise on points Dec. - July?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I think that rule is you cannot make the booking when you are in the last 4 months. (would require CRO to sell your points' reservation within 4 months, so no last-minute cruising)
You should be OK if you make the reservation a year in advance.

This is correct. You can travel within the last 4 months of your UY, you just can't book during that time.

I'm glad you asked this question. I had the same concern about booking an Adventures by Disney trip. We have an August use year, and thought that the 4 month rule meant we wouldn't be able to use points for summer trips! Glad that's not the case. :)

We have a December UY and we are cruising on points in September so I can confirm that this is no issue as long as you book more than 4 months out. We booked our cruise 10 months out and already we did not get our first choice of cruise so booking a cruise on points less than 4 months is probably fairly academical.
