Cruising on Points-Dining w/Family not on points

We are planning on booking a cruise in May 2004 with our DVC points. Our parents and my sister are also booking the cruise, paying cash. Is it relatively simple to arrange to sit at the same table in the dining room when making the reservation two different places? Is it easier to do this if booking the cash reservation directly through DCL versus another vendor? I have found a slightly better price at an outside vendor?

Also - we have cruised on the Wonder before and really enjoyed the verandah. I can't convince my parents to go for the verandah - my dad is as tight as bark on a tree! The best price I can find is for a category 11. Can anyone comment on that category and/or how to convince my parents to splurge for the verandah! It seems to me to be about $1500 total more for the verandah, which is a tough sell for me to them!

I did some research on this earlier and it appears to me that your TA and Disney can "link" the reservations. Just make sure you give both sides all the information.

We are cruising in July and 2 families booked on points and the other 4 paid cash. The two DVC families booked first and had their ressies linked and then gave those ressie numbers to everyone else and they had their ressies linked to ours through DCL. It was really easy!

Easy to link ressies through DCL. We're going in less than a month (wahoo) and the couple we're travelling with paid cash - no problem linking. As far as Mr. Tightwad, show him the DIS boards cruise forum and see if he'll be a believer after reading some trip reports. Verandah can't be beat. If he refuses after showing him everything

then I guess it's hopeless and he'll regret it when he gets there.

There are a lot of people on the cruise board who feel a verandah is not worth the money. This is especially true for couples without children who don't need a place to escape during naps or early bedtimes.

We've sailed in an inside cabin before, and unless you plan to spend a lot of time there, it's not important to have a balcony. Is it nice? It's fantastic! But can you convince someone that it's worth $1500? Doubtful!

Is the $1500 for a cat 7?
