Hi everyone.

I just bought our plane tickets yesterday so I guess there's no turning back now...DCL here we come (unless of course Air Canada goes under...then we're in big trouble ).

We'll be leaving on March 5th (got a direct flight from Ottawa ), spending a week at WDW then on to the cruise on the 12th with our return flight for 2pm on the 19th...Orlando/Toronto/Ottawa. Now it's finally starting to seem more real to me.

Thanks for posting Kathy & keeping us all in touch. How are everyone's plans coming along?

Would anyone from Ontario be able to answer if it is better to purchase tickets from now or wait until the time is closer?

Yes...it's funny how it takes spending $1100 on 2 plane tickets to make it seem real to me.

As far as purchasing tickets, I've been watching the AC & Expedia sites for a while now and decided to grab them with AC so we can get the flight times we want (I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they survive the restructuring). All AC seats with the best rates for the 2pm flight home on the 19th were already gone (both Tango & Econo Fares) so I figured I'd buy them now while the next best rate (Fun Fare) was still available...otherwise we'd have to pay a lot more or fly home on the 20th. The choice of flight times with Expedia was pretty crappy...we would have had to stay overnight & fly home on the 20th so with the added hotel & food expenses, it wouldn't have been much cheaper than Air Canada.

You're probably OK waiting a while for a good deal because you're flying out of Toronto (and you can also consider American airline companies flying out of Buffalo). We don't have as great a selection from Ottawa and flying out of the US for us is just too risky & complicated at that time of year (with the potential for snow storms, etc.). I know I probably paid more than I had to but the flight time choice was worth it to me (plus now it's paid for ). Good luck with your decision.

I'm just playing the waiting game! We will be driving down, I think this time, unless flights get really, really cheap! Every once in a while I find myself daydreaming about Castaway Cay! When things get stressful here at work or home that is the place I go to in my mind to find peace and calm again. Just thinking about the beach and the beautiful water calms me right down! All is well with us on the home front. Little League games have begun for the grandkids, and I try to get to as many as I can, and then there is the big dance recital in June for the granddaughters. My husband and I have a fifth wheel RV(camper) and we camp at least one or two weekends a month. So to say I stay busy is an under statement. Good to hear from some of you, I had been checking last week and the week before and no reply from anyone. CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL OUR CRUISE!!

How crowded do you think WDW will be the week before the cruise...maybe we'll get a couple days in.

Hi Laura & welcome to the DIS. This really is turning into a Canadian cruise.

I know at least 2 people who will be at WDW before the cruise ...DD & I will be there the week before. I have no idea how crowded it will be, but park hours from previous years were shorter that week than they were the next week so I'm assuming that means it's less crowded. Either way, I'd rather be at a crowded WDW than at home.

Your DDs are going to be so excited when they find out.

This is really neat being able to get to know people before the holiday even starts!

I'm going to wait and see if we can get a good flight deal out of Buffalo but that is a good point about snowstorms - Buffalo can get some big ones. One way or another we will get to the boat!

We will drive too if the flight costs are too high. I've never gone away for March break before so I think I will be in for a shock!

I know I will be thinking about the cruise every day until we leave! LOL

I feel like I am out of place, with all the Canadians that are taking this cruise so far. Just PeachyK and I are from the States on this board. We have had an awful start to the summer so far..cold / rainy / cloudy overall yucky weather! And it always falls on the weekends!

Hi everyone,

I too am fine "up here in Canada." As Vivig said, summer is taking it's time coming this year. Environment Canada says that all provinces (except Nova Scotia) are suppose to experience a "hotter & drier" summer than normal but I guess that's if and when it ever gets here. I just keep thinking about our trip to WDW in 36 more days because I know we'll definitely get plenty of heat there in July.

I'm glad to hear from you all! Disneylisa, how lucky you are to be going to Disney in just a few more days!! I was just there the week between Christmas and New Years! It is the first time I have been there for the holidays, it was wonderful! Very crowded but still wonderful! I went with my two daughters, the married daughter's husband and my two grandchildren. It was a very good time and the weather was great. Not to hot and not to cool. I don't think I want to go again during that week, but everyone should go once just to see the decorations and special Christmas shows they have. Our weather is warm already. We are having on the average 80 degree weather now. We went camping over the Memorial Day holiday and had a great time. Nothing better than sitting on the beach, watching the ducks and geese land on the Chesapeake Bay, where we were camping. Hope your temps up in the north warm up soon. Talk to you all later, have a safe summer, and Disneylisa have a safe and wonderful trip in July.

Hi everyone,

I bought my first cruise souvenirs today!!!

The Disney Store is having their summer sale (I went to Yorkdale in Ontario) but I think it started everywhere today (in the USA too) because the online Disney Store sent me an email saying that the sale starts today.

Anyways they have some large and small stuffed animals that are wearing tropical clothes, bathing suits etc. on sale for half price. I bought 2 Minnie Mouses in tropical dresses to surprise the girls with on the ship. I also picked up some bathing suits, summer dresses, etc. 50%.

I bought stuff in advance for our trip to Disney last year and it really worked out great.

We still have 17 days & 17 hours until we leave Brenda but it's really getting close now. I have the resorts paid for (wanted to pay it all up front so we'll have fewer bills when we return), all our PSs are made and we're starting to set some things aside in a suitcase in preparation for the long drive down. We're really looking forward to it and DD says she thinks this is going to be our best trip yet...I hope she's right.

I hope everyone is having a nice summer...ours has finally arrived but I'm too distracted to enjoy it. I'll wait until we get back to do that.

I'll have my laptop with me so I'll try to remember to post here while we're at WDW...any messages for Mickey anyone?

Thanks Kathy...we're off first thing Friday morning. It's a 27 hour drive for us but if all goes well, we'll be having dinner at Boma on Saturday night.
