We are a group of 8 families thinking of a 7 night Western cruise in May 2006. How are the discounts done? Are they a percentage off or flat amount? If it is not a great discount then some families said that they'd wait until another time. Any help would be very helpful.

Thank you very much.

We did a group cruise last year and found a great discount w/ the travel agent we used. Sandy @ Sunburst Travel (800)344-4786 got us a good bit off of the "posted" rate. There were 10 staterooms. Usually it just depends on the time, etc. for the discount rate.

We are sailing April 29, 2006 on the Magic and we got a great rate from Dreams Unlimited, there are 20 of us in our group, 8 kids and 12 adults. ( I checked 5 different places)

We are all staying in cat 11 rooms and the total for all us, in 6 cabins was under $15000. :cool1: :cool1:

Wow that sounds great! We are hoping to get a group together to cruise in 2008 and have used DU for a WDW vacation and a cruise and were very happy. How far in advance did you book? Did you do this online or over the phone?

We booked online with DU, travel agent Sue Ellen. I think we booked in Nov. that would be about 16 months ahead. We picked the exact cabins we wanted and are all in a row. We are on deck 6 cabins 6045-6053, right in the middle of the ship, perfect location in my opinion.

The nice thing is that our reservations are linked but we each have our own individual reservation # so everyone has their specific cabin assignment and is paying as they want etc. for the trip. We were told that DCL will make sure all of our seating is together as well.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll wait until next year to contact DU about our group, probably right before the rates for 2008 are released.

My family is having a group of 9 families go in 10/06, about 36 people. We called a lot of the travel agents and there weren't very many "good deals". What a lot of the travel agencies do is buy a lot of rooms in advance, get a discount, and pass the savings to the public. If I were you I would call and arrange it. They also can tie all your reservation numbers together so you can sit close to each other at dinner.

How many families/people do you have to have to get a discount? We are going on a cruise in November 2006 for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We will have 5 rooms, with 17 people.

I have heard 8 cabins. But I think every travel agent is a little different. You will have to call around. Sometimes it takes a while for them to get back to you. Below is an email I received from DCL about group discounts. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your e-mail.

To cross reference your reservations, please contact our reservations office at 800-511-1333.

A minimum of 16 adult fare guests (based on double occupancy) occupying a minimum of 8 staterooms
constitutes a group. Third through fifth berths do not count toward meeting minimum group size.
Resort, stateroom multiple berths, and suite arrangements are determined by space availability. All guests within the group must purchase the same vacation package. As the Disney Cruise Line
reservations offices are not currently accessible online, we ask that you please contact our Groups
