Cruisin' with the Cinco DIS Mayo group..pictures and more text added!!

Do you think we scared them away? Or was it you Lisa, who "advised" them to keep away from the wacky bunch of disers?:lmao:'
Mandie has not even been back after the cruise!:sad2:
Karen

Well unfortunately, Mandy had some health issues upon return to the UK. I am sure she will post once she feels better. I have maintained contact with them via emails. I wouldn't tell them to keep away, you all are great. :goodvibes We have wonderful memories of the cinco "Dis" mayo group!

happy belated anniversary, sorry i forgot, I am surpised I didnt hear David and Anastasia singing too you.did you tell them?

Yes, they all came over and sang to Mandy and Mark. Even our head server--which was the only time we ever saw him! You guys were sitting there, surprised you didn't hear! :)

Lisa,
Just found your trip report and I really enjoyed it :) especially because it was nice reading a view from an 'adults only' group. My DH and I are contemplating taking our 1st (yes, 1st!) cruise along with some friends ~~ Now, we are completely *Disney people* and they are not :confused3 so we are trying to figure out if we can convince them to try DCL (they've never cruised before either). I'm thinking that one of the big points I can mention is that, from all I've read and seen on the travel channel DCL special, the cabins look to be so much nicer on Disney. We'll definitely be booking a verrandah room no matter what line we sail on - I want to be able to sit out on my balcony at sea!
Since I see you've sailed on other lines as well, if we didn't do DCL :sad1: what would you say would be 'next best'?

Do you fly from SeaTac? I noticed you were doing connecting flights home and just wondered why you don't fly Alaska direct? We are "from Seattle now living in Virginia" and the friends we hope to cruise with will be flying from Seattle.

The cabins on Disney are very nice, and of the cruises we have done, probably have the best in storage space. I would definately recommend a balcony, we spent a lot of time on ours! :goodvibes

If I didn't sail Disney, I would recommend either Princess or Celebrity, but it depends on the "atmosphere" you are trying to go for. Princess is more like Disney all around (without the characters). Celebrity has a more "upscale" feel, but we met the same kind of people that we did on Disney. I mean, that people were not snobby on Celebrity (or Disney) but the atmosphere came across more stuffy. (white gloved attendants, etc)

We fly directly from the airport here (Pasco), so we don't have the option of Alaska air. I could fly out of SeaTac and get a direct flight, but would have to drive 3 hours to get there! ;)

If you want to try and convince your friends, I would just encourage them to view these boards and read the many trip reports from those of us that travel as adults on Disney. If I had to list the positives of Disney over say, Princess:
staterooms and verandas are MUCH nicer (and we had a minisuite on Princess!)
I like the rotation dining (except when we get PC on formal night: see report)
The adult only areas are so very quiet and nice.
Serenity Bay on CC is wonderful! No other private island has that. However, the other private islands are as nice or nicer than CC.
The shows are more fun on disney. And I am talking also the comedy shows etc.

Yes, I thought you were probably from eastern Washington :)

Thanks for all your thoughts ~ I'm going to start working on getting them coverted over to the DCL!

Any negatives concerning Disney over the 'other' cruiselines?

I was on the Magic a week in February and a week in April with only Adults. In april, I was with friends from California who have cruised many other lines and they said they never realized how great Disney Cruise Line would be and were happy and want to do it again when the Magic is in Ca next summer. The adult areas are great and adult shows are great too. Everything other lines have with the exception of gambling and since I don't gamble - I was happy.

I think it is a great adults vacation. In St Thomas we met some people who were on the Mariner of the Seas and they said they usually sail Disney and would be back because after 9 pm gambling and drinking were the only activities. Don't know if that is true but they also said their verandahs were much nicer on the Magic.

So I think you should give it a try. Convince your friends

Thanks :) Yes, I'm certainly going to try and convince them! I just sent for the DCL video ~ that may help too. I'm with you on the gambling ~ big plus that DCL doesn't have that! Our friends are pretty much the same on that; I'm sure they wouldn't miss it at all.

It's great to read that many do "adults only" trips with Disney :) It also looks as if many prefer the Eastern over the Western cruise.

I really preferred the Eastern to the Western, but I am not a Cozymel fan and I loved St. Thomas & St. Maarten - also their is a casino in port in St. Maarten if anybody feels like they must gamble. If you decide to go on a Eastern there is a great tour guide that takes you to top on mountain. It is Sunny Liston Tours and it was GREAT. Best banana dacquiri's at the Top of The Mountain bar.
