Cruisin' MAYniacs - May 14-17, 2009

Karen,

You will get all the lingo down very quickly!! The most common acronyms are DW (darling wife), DH (darling husband or darn husband - you choose, LOL), DD (darling daughter) and DS (darling son). You can also have things like DMIL for darling mother in law, etc ... usually doesn't take too long to figure them out when you have that basic idea.

We will also be doing WDW before the cruise ... we arrive on May 9 and are staying at the Sheraton Vistana Villages until we leave for the cruise. My kids have no idea about the cruise ... we are surprising them at Chef Mickey's (restaurant at the Contemporary Resort with characters) on Thursday morning.

My kids are dying to go to Anaheim! Might have to bite the bullet and go sometime.

Kat

I don't think I could ever keep a secret that long! I envy you! I'm like a little kid and would have spoiled the surprise a long time ago! LOL! We will be staying at POR. We're flying directly from Denver, CO so it shouldn't be too bad... I think it's a 3 1/2 hour flight. My kids can't wait! I'm pulling out the suitcases next week! :yay:

Well, we almost accidentally spoiled it like 3 times already!!

Our flight is about 2 hrs 45 mins so it's really quick ... and with JetBlue you have the TVs so it really flies by.

What parks are you going to? Any plans for Mother's Day? We are having brunch at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have never eaten there or even seen AKL so we are excited about that!

Kat

My daughter already has her stacks of clothes laid out ... her carryon bag has been packed for 3 weeks!!

We would like to go to Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom for sure. We really don't have an itinerary which is completely unlike us! We plan for everything! We just feel like lost sheep, so we'll just take it as it comes. :confused3 Same goes for the cruise. We didn't plan any excursions....just going to have fun and check things out! As for Mothers Day...again, we have no idea. I think we get into Orlando around 2:00 in the afternoon so I guess we'll just see...

Okay, I'm still learning the lingo and abbreviations but there will be me DW Karen 37, DH Alex 37, DD Katelyn 11, DD Alexys 9. We are from Alamosa Colorado. I'm basically copying the abbreviations, but what exactly does DW, DD, DH, etc, stand for? Call me crazy....I need to figure all of this out!

We will be in Disneyworld from the 10th until we leave on the 14th. We've never been there either, although we're no strangers to Disneyland in Anaheim. WE LOVE DISNEY!

Welcome to our group!!! We are doing Disney before the trip, arriving the 7th, originally the10th, but we took the 3 extra free days they offerend. This is our 3rd trip to Disney and our first cruise..

We are surprising Casey with the Bibbity Bobbity (makeup / hair/ nails) then lunch in the castle. Later in the week we are doing the California Grill and watching the fire works from there. Can't wait!

Karen....Welcome to the group!!!!

This is our first cruise too. Feel free to ask any questions you have here as this is a great group full of information. They have been very helpful to me.

Woohoo...I think I only have 12 working days left until we leave! I bought our FE "gifts" today and think I am done, but knowing me, I am not! I am so excited! I started tanning too, 5 minutes last night and believe it or not it gave me some color! (I am 100% irish so very fair skinned) I can't believe there is so much to do to get ready for this cruise, all while putting our house on the market on May 1, doing a yard sale on May 1 and 2...working full time and having a 3 year old and 6 month old...BOY, do I need a vacation or what!

Can't wait to meet everyone...so happy to see so many of us are on the 6th deck!

-Colleen

I almost forgot, I got a postcard from Disney yesterday with a PIN for a special offer. We could spend 4 nights and 5 days in a value resort with park tickets and the dining plan included for $638 per adult, and kids 3-9 are free. I'd love to add this on before our cruise, but it's just not gonna happen. We decided at the start of the year not to take a big family vacation this summer, to save money for some major farm expenses we will have this later this year. Then I saw the kids cruise free promotion and convinced DH we should do a small big vacation ;). I'm going to be responsible and not even whine about not getting to use the PIN offer. Well I won't whine to DH but I can whine to you guys right?:rotfl:

Jenni

Oh Jenni.....I can so relate!

We had also originally decided we were not going to do a big vacation this year since we did WDW last year....but with the kids free offer we just couldn't pass it up.

I got the same postcard...I hate that I couldn't take advantage of it....our kids are too old to qualify. I would LOVE to schedule a trip to WDW this year too but a cruise will have to be enough for now.

:cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Docs=check
Perm=check
FE gifts=check
Tanning=not yet
Panic=:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Just put the kiddos to bed and hopefully in another 10-15 minutes I can open the docs. The boys still don't know!!!

I can't believe so little time left and so much left to do.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Welcome to the group Karen!

I'm with ya'll too - but I did start tanning so maybe the optical illusion will kick in! I've started gathering stuff, not packing in a suitcase yet but as something occurs to me, I stick it in the pile. It's starting to seem real!

Denise - are you a TGM'er? Seems like I've seen your screen name somewhere before?

Jenni

Yes, I'm a TGM'er. I actually post over there a lot more. My screen name is my maiden name so it's not real common!

No docs yet... Still waiting.... 14 days until we leave to start our Disney Vacation!!!

HI All-

We got our Docs on Saturday...Not too far from the mailing point (Celebration). Anyway, the count is really on now. We broke down and told the kids. Now we can use our trip for behavious modification. I know it sounds cruel, but the really respond to "if you don't stop doing that, there's no Mickey's Ship." Works like a charm. Even though they always get to go.

Joel,

That's a good incentive program that you have come up with ... same here ... you won't go if blah, blah, blah ... and they always go!

We booked October for MNSSHP and they think that if the report cards are perfect in June, we will book it ... minor difference there but hey, whatever works at the time!!

Kat

PS ... will you be joining us for the DISmeet?

NOt sure about the DISmeet. We are having some logistical problems with our home departure time. May not be there until 2pm or so and would need to get the kids settled and all...But, we'll try.

So we are in pre-pack mode. The suitcases are out and waiting in the guest room...Items have made their way to the drycleaners. Weightloss has begun. I refuse to look the way I did on previous cruises. Looking back at photos saying, "you can't be serious."

Anyway...If you're looking for me I am not hard to find...Usually on Deck 4, before the sun rises getting an early start with a run and fresh look on the day ahead. Keeps me clear and focused.

I thought I'd seen you over there! I haven't posted there since our last trip to Orlando in 2006, but I have been lurking there to read cruise trip reports and cruising tips.

Hahaha:rotfl: I don't know if I could even threaten that. We use the Xbox for behavior modification at our house - I have no problem taking that away!

Hi Everyone!
I'm new, but wanted to say hello! Our family will be on the Wonder on May 14too! Our first cruise ever!! We are excited and I decided I needed to get on these forums to get advice, tips and whatever. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed! There will be me, my husband and two girls ages 11 (almost 12) and 9. I've tried reading a lot of threads, but the more I read the more stressed I feel! So much to know and so little time before we leave. Oh well, it'll be fun!

:welcome: Welcome to the group Karen!

Ok,

Craziness has just set in...I realized that this is the first cruise we have taken withh ALL of the kids and we aren't staying Cat 3....:scared1::scared1:

I am worried about space. When we cruised last year (May/July) we booked a Cat 3 for May for the 5 of us with no issues (we stayed in Cat 3 in 2007 & 2006). And for our July cruise it was on three of us so we stayed in Cat 4 with no issues. Are we going to be falling over each other in the Cat 4? HELP!!!!!:scared::scared:

I will need to find me a nice place to watch the sun come up... coffee in hand and all... :)
