Cruisin in January

Hello. I am thinking of changing my cruise to Last week in January--will work out better, but am afraid it will be cold, rough seas, etc. How's the weather in Jan on the 4 day? Good or Bad time? Thanks

You takes your chances in January. We cruised in Jan03 and it was cold, cold, cold. I was looking at our photos the other day..bundled up in sweatshirts on Castaway Cay. Couldn't even enjoy the island it was so cold, damp, and windy. We were also cold at Nassau. They said it was one of the few times the temp ever dipped below 60 degrees. So, perhaps we just hit an exceptionally bad period. We spent most of the cruise inside, couldn't even enjoy the pool or the decks. Having said that, I'm sure Jan cruising can be nice ...I've been to FL in Jan/Feb and temps usually in 60s and sunny. Good luck.

We did the 7 night western on the Magic the last wk of January. Altho the weather was generallly quite nice, the seas were a bit rougher than normal altho not terribly so. Problem was due to windy conditions, we were unable to dock at castaway cay since the wind was blowing the wrong way. Since we were unable to also visit one of the islands due to windy conditions preventing the tenders from bringing us ashore, we spent most of the cruise on the ship. To say the least, this greatly angered a number of guests. Personally it wasn't a big deal to me, but we were told that cruising in January is definitely a risky proposition.

It was cold and windy while at sea!! I don't think I would ever sail in Jan again! I will stick with Fall even with the risk of a late Hurricane.

The ports were good. Key West and Cozumel were pleasant and in the 80's,but the moment we would hit open sea it would get so windy and cold!!! That last day we had sweatshirts on and beach towels as blankets. brrrrrr

I have read others say Jan is ok,but I think it is hit and miss. Sea's were so rough!!! We had 20-30 foot swells the last night. We were on Deck 2 with a window and waves were rolling and crashing over the window!

Unbelievable....The whole room shook...My friend and I just laughed cause we could not sleep. We were in amazment. We survived,but don't think we will try it again in Jan.
