Does anyone know if anything special happens on a birthday cruise? My DH is sailing on his birthday and the TA said she'd note in on our file. :bday:

But does she do anything about it? Does Disney do anything about it? I would love to hear any stories about what DCL does for birthday boys or girls.

I know I can purchase stuff (room decorations, gift baskets, etc) but I want to know if extra pixie dust gets sprinkled on them.

(Hey, it's not like you can lie about it. They have your passport after all.)

When the Head Waiter visited our table on the first evening, he asked if we were celebrating any special occasions. I told him my DH and DD both had birthdays during the week, and he wrote the dates down. They each received a cake and a pin, and the waiters sang to them after dinner on their birthdays.

We've gone on two cruises during our "birthday week" and it was a fun way to celebrate. I brought a few small gifts for them, and didn't do any special decorations, although that would be a great idea, along with a gift basket.

Have fun!

The Perfect Gift will make you a great basket to have waiting in your room when you arrive. But the cakes and singing I think are it as far as DCL goes.

There is the standard cake and "HB" by the waiters. THe pins seem to come and go--sometimes they have them, sometimes not. You can pay to have your room decorated (it will be done at boarding.) I wanted the room done on the right day, so I bought decorations at the local party outlet and did it myself. All the little girls LOVED the door decorations, and DD got a lot of attention that way.

I just got back from the 7/17 Western where one of my niece's just celebrated her 13th birthday.

The day before her birthday, I went to one of the stores on the ship (forget the name, one with clothes) and they asked me if I had a birthday pin. I said no, and one of the CMs got a "It's my birthday" pin and told me my niece should wear it on the next day.

On the next day, she did wear it and CMs kept coming up and hugging her/congratulating her. She got a kick out of it.

Also, our server knew it was her birthday at the beginning of the trip but we also reminded her the night before. So they had a cake ready for her and sang "happy birthday" the night of her birthday.

Hope that helps! Definitely go to one of the stores to get that pin!
