Anyone with a big family been on one? We are looking to do Boston - Bermuda & it is impossible to get on line pricing. I am going to call next wk

Yes, actually, we just did a cruise this past December. It was me, DH and our 4 children. We homeschool so we weren't hampered by school and available dates. We sailed on Royal Caribbean out of Cape Liberty (which we could drive to) on Explorer of the Seas. We did a 12 night to the Southern Caribbean. Everything we priced, even on different lines, the cheapest way to sail was doing 2 connecting interior rooms. They are even cheaper than the family suites. And honestly, we were hardly ever in our rooms. If sailing in a cheaper room allows us to vacation more often, that is the way to go! ;) If I can answer any questions, feel free to ask! :)

Thanks, this is good to know. We live in the Boston area so will not have to pay for flights so I am hoping it will not cost a fortune. I do not mind taking the children out of school.

We are a very modest family in terms of spending and this was very afforable (actually, cheaper than WDW in terms of cost and what you get for it!:rolleyes1 ) There are many ports to sail from on the east coast. I should've clarified, Cape Liberty is in NJ right by NY, you could see the Statue of Liberty from the ship. You have ports in NY, NJ, Philly, Baltimore MD, Norfolk VA (I'm not familiar with the ones north of NY as I didn't look since the other were closer to us in PA). All depends what atmosphere you are looking for, but Carnival, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean are some of the more popular ships in the area.
