Cruise's (Chris) Accountability/Sap Journal :) (comments welcome)

Chris -- You are doing so GREAT! Congratulations! You must be so proud of yourself. Just your attitude about exercise is inspiring, but then when you put it all together with your journaling and upbeat attitude, it is amazing! I bet you feel as if you have really taken control and changed your life for the better, right?

BTW, I also share that habit of stepping on the scale every day. Even though the fluctuations can be frustrating, the payoff of really seeing how different foods and circumstances impact my scale experience has been enlightening. For example, I am super sensitive to sodium, and I also find that a higher protein, lower carb day yields a better result.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Chris!!!

Yay for your 10lb clippie!!! :maleficen
I can echo what Amanda said about the carbs and fat. I know that for me controlling my carb intake (not really low carb because I eat as many carbs as many people do on a daily basis, just good carbs and then the other ones at set times) really controls my cravings and I lose weight well, whereas flipping it around and doing a low cal plan that is usually high carb will make me hungry constantly and my loss stalls. But that is me and every person is different! An old co-worker of mine I first tried this plan with a few years ago followed it to a T but did not find it to work for her. For her the opposite plan ended up working. Isn't the human body amazing!!?? hehe!

Oh, and you don't ever have to apologize for posting more than once a day, split it into 10 parts and we'll still read it! :goodvibes

HAve a happy & healthy weekend!

First of all - BRITT COMES HOME TOMORROW!!!!!! :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen I can't wait to see her. The come home day always makes me nervous - I always wonder if she grew up at all, how bad will she smell, how burnt did she get, how many ticks did they pull off of her, how many mosquito bites did she get, will she be happy to see me??? And she is usually the last stinking kid off the bus too!!!!! Darn her - I just so can't wait to see her. :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen

Okay - now down to serious business. Thanks for all of your support the last couple of days. I had really gotten down - between not feeling good, missing my dd, and I was missing my mom quite a bit - I just didn't feel like myself and felt like I wasn't accomplishing much. But I got out of that today and feel a bit better.

So today was okay - I didn't eat much during the day because I was pretty busy and I wanted to save as much for tonight's dinner. I did pretty well - I made this packaged spanish rice that was awesome and 1/3 cup just wasn't enough so I was stupid to have another 1/3 cup - THERE ARE 42 CARBS PER 1/3 CUP IN THE DARNED STUFF!!! But it was soooooo good and not spicy. Rice is a definite downfall for me and I looked at this as a "treat" for dinner. The fajitas turned out pretty good. I use this spice from Penzey's spices that is great!!!! It calls for 1/4 cup of oil and 1/3 cup of lime juice so I put 1/3 cup oil and 1/4 cup lime juice - too much lime!!!! - and then you mix the chicken into the mixture (the spices are first mixed into 2 TBSP of water too). When I put the chicken in the pan I drained as much of the oil/lime juice off that I could so it wouldn't be swimming in oil and that helped but I still counted that I consummed 1 TBSP of Olive Oil. I got these low fat, low carb tortillas that Aztek makes and they were VERY good - I'm going to use those this next week in place of bread for a wrap sandwich for lunch. And I had sauteed some onions with red, orange, and yellow peppers - used 1 cup total on both fajitas (I had 2 and probably could have done with one but better than the 3 or 4 dripping with oil that I use to eat). I also got some reduced fat mexican cheese from Sargento that was very good - almost too much in the helping size so next time I'll cut that down too. All in all it was a good dinner.

Here's what I had today and my totals:
breakfast 2 pcs toast Wonder Light Wheat
1 TBSP peanut butter
small plum

lunch ham sandwich
1 TBSP mayo fat free
1 ounce ruffles
cheese stick

snack 100 cal snack - wheat thins

dinner 2/3 cup spanish rice
2 fajitas with:
6 ounce chicken
1/4 c cheese
1 c peppers, onions
2 low carb, low fat tortillas
1 roma tomato
1 TBSP olive oil on chicken when mixing spice in

1646 cal, 55.2 fat, 206.9 carbs

I will have a snack tonight because I was getting so hungry for fudgesicles that I bought some no fat, no sugar fudgesicles at WalMart today from Blue Bunny (the people that make the fat free frozen yogurt that I love). I wanted a little change and try these to see how they were. I'll be hungry in an hour as we ate a little early tonight because we were hungry.

So not too bad in the counts - fats are a bit high but I'm happy. Who would have known that writing everything down and counting and weighing and measuring can be so satisfying!!!! Not me, not in a million years - until now!

Gonna go get caught up on all your awesome journals. Everyone have a great night!!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Great going with the fajitas Chris! They sound yummy and healthy!!
Hope your fudgesicle was yummy!!!
Mike :maleficen

Chris - those fajitas sound so good. I'm not good at cooking or really like to cook but I might have to order those the next time I go out for dinner. I think you did a great job hanging in there while Britt was at camp, she'll be so proud of you. Have a great weekend with her (and have fun doing laundry lol).

Glad to hear your DD is coming home! I could tell how much you missed her! I hope you have a joyful (and not too smelly!) reunion!

You're going great work! Your dinner sounds great! I was shocked the first time I realized how many calories/carbs were in rice! I had to give it up pretty much--too much of a hit. Luckily I'm not a huge fan of it, so it's no problem. But it sounds like you're doing a great job managing and looking at it like a treat!

Have a great night!

Hi Chris,

Gald to hear that you DD is coming home!

Those fajitias sound delic!!!! Great job on that!

Keep up the good work. You DD is going to be so proud of you

Have a great, healthy weekend!

7/30/05

Good evening everyone!!!! Thanks for those that visited and read the last couple of days. They have been hard.

Picked up Britt today. Bus was suppose to be there by 1 but they got there about 1:20. Of course, she was the last one off the bus but not alone - they all kind of walked off in a line. I could tell she made some great friends the last two weeks and I was so happy to see the smile on her face. She wasn't too smelly, was pretty clean, and wasn't burnt (it had tanned by today :) ). When we walked back to the car she said she had something to show me - she came off the bus in jeans and a sweatshirt (they were in upper WI and said it was chilly when they left at 7am). We got to the car and she took off her sweatshirt and said - See. I looked at it her and OMG, she looked thinner!!!!! Sure enough, her jeans probably had about 5 inches on them and they were sagging on her. So when we got home I had her go up on the scale - now granted she had eaten already today - and she had lost 5.5 pounds while she was gone. Before she left she had lost 10 so that was 15.5 pounds since July 1!!!!!! :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen I'm so very proud of her!!!! She said she was jumping up and down in her cabin when she put her jeans on and saw how big they were!!! Now we'll really see what her weight is when she gets up in the morning. She said she watched what she ate but didn't hold back - had seconds on some foods - and they did a lot of walking and hiking and they even did some exercises that one of the counselors came up with to get them moving a few mornings. 15.5 POUNDS - can you believe it!!!!!!!

Okay, now to me. I'm so happy dd is home. I was so happy to see her that I was the first in line. The girls come in through a door off the bus and into a room behind tables. We have to sign for them and then they can come from behind the table and out to get their gear. I was too excited to be the middle or last in line!!!!! :)

I did not get on the scale today but I was so incredibly miserable. I was bloated from TOM and had horrible cramps. I have horrible horrible TOM's about every 4th month and this was the one - and my 3rd or 4th days (mine go from 5 to 7 days) are usually the worst. So I wasn't in the mood to go workout, just too much pain. But went and got groceries and bought a lot of veggies to have on hand for the next two weeks (until next payday) and 100 cal snacks, cheese sticks, fruit, etc. I'm set for a healthy couple of weeks. We had brats tonight that were in the freezer and I didn't have the strength to throw them out - I was able to have one and could have had two given where my totals stand right now. But I am use to having 2 or 3 so I was happy I was able to stop at 1. Had some green beans and leftover onions and peppers from last night and some watermelon, cantalope, and honeydew that I mixed for a fruit salad. It all was really good!!!! Oh and in place of working out - because I couldn't let the month slip by with just 5 minutes left in the 1000 minute challenge I did - 5 minutes going up and down the basement steps continually; 5 minutes of ab crunches; 5 minutes of leg lifts like we do in Jazzercise. So I got through the challenge!!!!

Here's what I had today and where I stand for today:
breakfast 2 pieces toast on Wonder Light Wheat
2 tsp peanut butter
cheese stick

lunch ham sandwich
1 TBSP fat free mayo
2 pickle slices on sandwich
fat free yogurt
18 carrots
2 TBSP dip

snack 2 Weight Watcher Pecan Clusters

dinner brat, no bun or bread
1 c onions and peppers
1 cup green beans
1 cup cantelope, honeydew, watermelon mixed
OMG - we went to Meijer to get some produce as they had a lot on sale and it's usually pretty good. We were standing at the checkout counter and I was hungry and had forgotten to bring a snack with me. I wanted nuts but was freaking on the fat content so I saw these little packets of Weight Watchers Pecan Clusters - so I got one; had 2 in the package. THEY WERE AWESOME!!!!! And just enough chocolate to kill the craving I was having back in the cake mix, brownie mix isle!!!! They were 110 cals, 7 grams fat, and 13 carbs. Not far off from what the 100 cal snacks would have been so I didn't feel quilty. It was a nice treat!!!!

So my totals right now are:
988 calories, 35.25 fat grams, 126.55 carbs

So needless to say - I have to eat some more food tonight before long or I'm going to feel really icky tomorrow. I think I'm going to have either 1 cup of fat free frozen yogurt, or some real popcorn with butter spray, or some fat free fig newtons. Decisions, decisions (actually I do hate having to make these kinds of decisions).

Hope everyone had a good day - doing some laundry for dd now and have been enjoying catching up on her last couple of weeks. Going to go read some journals!!!! Have a good night and...

Keep on
Chris

Good morning everyone. Just a quick check-in to say last night was okay. I ended up having 1 cup of fat free frozen yogurt with 1 TBSP choc syrup and 1 TBSP carmel syrup (both fat free) AND 4 cups of popcorn with 1 TBSP margarine on it. So my totals ended up fine and still below a bit, of course the popcorn and butter raised my fat grams some but not bad at all. I haven't officially calculated them so I'm not absolute but it probably added about 10 grams of fat, which was okay.

Still battling the horrible TOM this morning - still bloated some but better than yesterday. No scale for me today. Tomorrow will get on so I know where I start for August. I have a feeling there will be a bit of a gain with the bloating still there but we'll see.

Britt got on this morning as she has an appointment on Wednesday with the nutritionist per her doctor and her weight was up .5 pounds. That still puts her at 15 pounds off. So we'll see what the nutritionist has to say to her and go from there. She's still very pleased - I let her kind of slack last night because she had been away for so long and she was craving a few things - so I let her eat them. But she is definitely dedicated to this - already saying I can't have this because of the fat grams and I can't drink all that soda anymore and I have to drink more water. She said she had an upset tummy last night - had two diet sodas (has only had one in the last 2 weeks) and had some popcorn. So she knows what her limits will be.

We are off to the horse races today (not my favorite thing to do in the heat but dh has been begging to go and he won free entrance tickets at a golf outing so we are going - UGH. It's gonna be hard to eat there too but I'll do my best. Gonna sneak in some snacks of my own too.

Everyone have a good Sunday - had to crank the air back on - gonna get warm again this week!!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Hey, Chris!

I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is home! Yeah! :)

Keep working hard! :)

Lisa

Hi Chris!!

Just popping in!! Glad to hear your DD is so excited to make those changes for herself. WIth you to support her I am sure she will do well!!

Hope that you're able to stay cool at the races!! (And sneak in some good snacks! hehe)

Have a good day!

Well, back home from the races and stupid me - didn't even think about it before we left home but forgot to slather with sunscreen and I WILL pay for it tonight when I'm sleeping and tomorrow, especially when the shower water hits me. Let's just say I have only seen this color of red when we were at Castaway Cay two years ago :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: (ok, so I'm not that bad but pretty darned close, especially on my face). At least I'll look good when it tans!!!!!! ROFL

So eating wasn't that bad. Dh and I split a steak wrap on a tomato tortilla and a bag of chips at the races. I ate a 100 cal snack before we got there and had breakfast this morning. Then we went to Sweet Tomatoes on the way home for dinner and I stuck with salad and had 1/4 cup of chocolate frozen yogurt (for those that don't know Sweet Tomatoes is an AWESOME salad bar restaurant that also has various pastas with a pasta bar, different foccacia pizzas and breads, and many different soups and chili's and then a ice cream/frozen yogurt bar). I just did my totals and really did well today and have a little room to have a snack tonight, which I'm going to need because salad doesn't stick with me long - even though I did have a total of an egg of my salad (I had two plates of salad) for some protein.

So here's what I did today:
breakfast 2 pieces Wonder Light Wheat toast
1 TBSP low sugar strawberry preserves
fat free yogurt

snack 100 cal chips ahoy

lunch 1/2 steak wrap
1 tsp mayo
1/2 ounce kettle chips

dinner 4 cups romaine
1 egg
5 croutons
4 TBSP ranch dressing
1/4 cup chocolate frozen yogurt

Totals are: 1283.5 cal, 57.9 fat grams, 143.5 carbs - a bit high in the fats but low in cals and carbs. So I'll have a fat free snack tonight - a yogurt or a fudgesicle.

DD had to start writing down everything she ate starting with today for her appointment on Wednesday and the nutritionist is not going to be happy with her - she's not very balanced with eating. I didn't have any fruit today but at least I had lots of veggies. She had a very minimum amount of veggies and no fruit and very little dairy. So I know what we have to work on. So far her calories are less than 671, fat grams are 32, and carbs are 65. She almost needs the equivalent of another meal with no fat. Looks like her snack tonight will be either watermelon or an apple.

I'm not going to get to journals tonight, I'm tired from so much sun so I'm gonna go change my clothes and relax on the couch with dd and watch some tv reruns (ABC tonight all the way).

Hope everyone had a good day, a good weekend, and has a good night. Two more days for me with no boss and then all H, E, double hockey sticks, hits (well it will seem like it as we play catch up from her being off 2 1/2 weeks). She always thinks we can't run without her and that I sat and did nothing while she was gone. I'm not an Administrative Secretary for nothing!!!! UGH

Keep on
Chris

Good morning, Chris. Do you have aloe on the house? That can really cool a burn fast. . .

Not to be nosey or anything, but how old is your DD again? Do you make suggestions about her food intake to her? How does she react? I'm asking because my teenage DD, a vegetarian, knows she should do lots of dairy. When I ask her if she's had her milk, she looks at me like I'm :maleficen and on her case or something! :p A nutritionist sounds like a good, neutral 3rd party to have involved! Maybe I should call one! :p

Have a great day. Dream big for August and reach for that healthy living star!

Erin
