cruise'n in December, how's the weather?

I am looking at booking a 4-day cruise that sails this December (Christmas vacation) but I am concerned about the weather in the Bahamas that time of year. I wouldn't be a happy camper sitting on Castaway Cay in long sleeves and pants and having paid a couple grand for the pleasure of doing so.
Would like to hear from people who have sailed that time of year and what was your weather like?

A few years ago we were on Castaway Cay the day after Christmas- We thought it was fine but we are also from the north. Some families just hung out on the beach and didnt go in the water but my kids did. It has been awhile so my memory is foggy but I would do it again. I do remember wearing shorts and bathing suits- definitely not pants or long sleeves.

In 2000 we went at the end of January and my family swam, but we are from Minnesota! Being from Michigan I think you will find it to be good too, unless a big cold front comes through! We are cruising on the Dec 5-9 wonder this year, when will you be going?

We were just on Castaway Cay on 1-09-04. We did wear shorts and bathing suits. The water was very cold in our opinion, but we are from Arizona. We were not comfortable trying to swim. Sitting on a beach lounge chair was great though. You could possibly get weird weather that time of year it is hard to tell.

I was there on a 4-day cruise with my Mom (60's at the time) and my neice (13). The seas were rougher than the previous July cruise but the water was comfortable enough for snorkeling. A little rainy, never cold.....some beautiful days...I've got the pictures to prove it...

weather.com says that the average temp in December for Nassau is around 78 degrees- (surprisingly the same average temp. at WDW for December)

It looks like Jan and Feb are colder
I would love to know what the average water temp is in the Bahamas in December.
