Cruiseline solo

I have been to WDW several times for up to 2 weeks on my own before and have a fantastic time. I am wondering about trying the Cruiseline, has anyone been on a Disney cruise on their own? and how was it?

I'd be interested in knowing about this also. DH has no desire to go on a cruise, even a DIsney one, but I'd kind of like to try it.

Not yet, but come May10/08 I'll be going on my 1st cruise....and it's solo I've done several solo WDW trips and can hardly wait for this new experience. If you go over to the cruise boards here on the dis you will find others who have taken solo cruises, they all seem to have had great trips.

Hi there! I still remember our lunch at Crystal Palace. I'm going to WDW solo in December, then DH and I are going together in April-well, going together but he's golfing every day, so it might as well be another solo trip. That's a real good idea-I'm going to check out the Cruise board, since I don't know much about cruising, except that I think it would be a fun thing to do.

I went solo on the Disney Wonder last December 3-7 (the Mousefest cruise) and had a great time. I went parasailing for the first tome ever on December 5 off Castaway Cay, with a group led by the amazing Deb Wills. It was certainly a different experience cruising alone; it was my first cruise with any line, let alone Disney, in twelve years, as the single supplement is quite a deterrent to solo cruising.

Just a word of warning...I went over to the cruise board too just to find out some info...next thing I knew I was booked on the 15 night WB Repo So just beware LOL

I've cruised solo, but I've never done a disney cruise. I love cruising, but as someone already mentioned, the cruislines make it really tough on solo travelers pricewise. And DCL tends to be expensive to begin with

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking i'll give the cruise line a try late October possibly part of a Disneyland, Disneyworld and Cruise line combined trip, I'm clearly mad!

I'm giving very serious thought to going on the Oct 27 7-day but I have to wait until the CM Space Available rates come out to see if anything is available. I'm not sure if the rules are the same, but for SA as a single I would pay 175% of the per person rate. Unless, of course, I got someone to share the cabin.

I have done two DCL cruises with friends, I have one on the 27th with a friend, and have signed up for one next June by myself, which doesn't mean I won't sign up a friend before then. Yes, you do pay 175% with single supplement.

I would love to cruise solo, but the 175% rate for a solo room knocks it completely out of my reach which is so depressing. I wish they would make a small number of solo rooms on each ship with a regular rate. I'm sure the interest would be there. Fit the rooms into smaller spaces on the ship.

I'll be on the October 13-20 seven night Eastern Magic Cruise with DD (10) and DS (9). I'll let everyone know how it went when we return.

I have though of this - but would only do a 3 or 4 night first. would hate to find on the 2nd day that I didn't like it and then have 6 more days....

I wish using DVC points they had a solo rate.

Geez, June already? I'd tag along on another cruise with you if it was in
the middle of a month and not 15 nights long.

I too have been wondering about a DCL cruise but the single supplement is a large amount of money. It is hard to find someone to travel with that you want to share a stateroom with even if you do not spend that much time there.

I've never cruised on a Disney ship, but as a rule cruise ships don't have a lot of tables for 2 and they save the ones they have for couples who request them. My one solo cruise I was at a table for 8 with 2 married couples, one pair of friends traveling together and another solo traveler.

I am thinking about doing this in Dec but didn't realize the 175% charge. Was thinking about 4 nights at Disney then 3 on the cruise...

I have been on two three night cruises this year. Traveling with DS 17= teen club=ALONE. I had a blast. The adult pool is very relaxing. The shows were wonderful. Had great dining compaions. Don't tell I even checked out the 70's disco night, and caught Pirates At Worlds End on the big screen. Only downside is the cost of a single cabin, but even that would be money well spent. Have fun.
