We are taking our 2nd Disney cruise, but first one in Dec. Any one cruise the Western Caribbean in Dec to give me a heads up on typical weather? is it warm enough to swim at CC in Dec?

Our Last cruise was in Oct 2014 and the weather was perfect!! Just not sure if there is much of a difference 2 months later.

A lot of this will depend on WHEN in December you are going. :)
We sailed in early December 2014 and I recall the water being cooler than what it was in late September/early October of that same year, but NOT horribly cold. We had good air temperatures with plenty of sun, so when we got out of the water it was still pleasant. I would say water temps were in the mid 70's around that time and the air was about 80.

Have a great cruise!

It might be fine, it might not be. It's the Caribbean. It's near the equator. It's supposed to be warm and balmy.

Honestly I felt the water was colder during our October cruise when it was HOT outside vs our February cruise when it was *warm* outside. It was all relative. :)

Last year we were on the Dream over Christmas. Our CC day was 27th December. The weather was perfect! Beautiful blue skies, and lovely and warm. Lots of people were swimming and I didn't hear anyone saying it was too cold to swim.

Claire :)

Oh I hope it's the same way this year! We are sailing on the Fantasy 12/24 and I really don't know how to pack. I have never vacationed during winter! I only know how to pack swimsuits and sundresses.

We swam at CC on NYE last year.

I'm coming from Alaska too.. so yes I guess it might feel different to me.. but i just wanted to know the kinda normal weather others have experienced around this time of the year. We are sailing out of Miami on Dec 4th!

Since you're from Alaska, Castaway Cay might be too warm for you. :duck:Or not. Basically the farther south you go in the Caribbean, the warmer the temps. Since we're desert rats we basically sunbathed on our Christmas Caribbean cruise. But hardier souls were swimming. The family spent a couple of days in Orlando before the cruise and some of them had to buy sweatshirts. check the Miami and Nassau weather reports the day before you leave, and that will give you an idea of what to expect.

We were at CC mid December 2014. It was about 75 degrees outside and the water was a little cool, but not so cool that it stopped us from going in.

We were at CC Dec. 15th last year and it was perfect. In fact, I think the water felt warmer then than on our recent trip there on Nov. 5th.

We sailed a 3-day Bahamian on the Magic over last New Year's. We departed December 31st from Miami, which was very warm- we flew in same day & I wished I hadn't worn long sleeves! The entire cruise was balmy, warm and peaceful. No rain, no rocky boat. Lucky us.

Castaway Cay was very warm- doing the 5K was a challenge in that muggy heat & sun. The ocean water there was chilly, but not unbearable once we got used to it. My son and I did Pelican Plunge several times and enjoyed it. We're from central Texas & used to swimming in natural springs, which don't have warm water.

We have sailed several times in December. We have always been lucky with the weather, sunny with temps in the mid 70s or higher. When first dipping your toes into the water it may feel a little cool but once you start moving around you should acclimate pretty quickly (at least we did). DW and I will be leaving for our next WDW/DCL combo vacation soon. When we get close to our vacation time we Google the weather to get an idea of what to expect.

I actually added all the locations to my7 phone and have been looking at them every few days... we 2 weeks from our boarding date!!! So Excited!!! Actaully found a youtub video of the exact room we will be in on the Magic!

I cruised Dec 18-22 back on 2013 on the magic to CC and Key West. Weather was perfect! CC water temp was a bit cool but not bad at all!

Looking forward to our 12/4 & 12/11 Magic Cruises out of Miami!

We always take a quick cruise to the Bahamas after Christmas and I (born and raised Fla Boy) have swam and gone fishing every time at CC as well as enjoyed the Quiet Cove pool and Serenity Falls on the Dream.

We've sailed the Caribbean in December several years now, and are doing it again this year. Our weather experience has been mixed. Some years its great; warm & sunny. Other times its been cool (not cold) and windy.

Anyone know what the water temps are like ,now that it's December?
We''re sailing Dec 23 out of Galveston.

I was on Dream cruise last week and it was very warm during the day, light hoodie or sweater weather at night due to the wind mostly. CC water was a bit chilly in the morning but with a clear day it was fine starting around 11 or so!
