I currently have Disney cruise line transportation book from Port Orleans Riverside. I'm not sure if I'm very excited about getting to the port so late. Has anyone used the magic express bus back to the airport in the morning, and then taken a cheaper/private shuttle to the port? If so, how did you do this exactly. We've never used either transportation before, nor have we ever stayed on Disney property.

It is often done but not optimal. You need to give false flight information to Magical Express so they schedule your return bus to MCO 3 hours prior to that fake flight. You can then check-in to the DCL bus. If there are more than 3 of you, it might be cheaper and a lot more convenient to cancel the DCL shuttle and just use Uber/Lyft or a private car company.

While we love taking the shuttle, and always do when departing from MCO after staying at the Hyatt there, we would use a private car or Lyft if we were staying at WDW. Door to door service, only an hour in total and you pick your own schedule.

Do you know if there's a cancellation fee when cancelling the cruise transportation?

If your intention is to take a private car/van to the port, you will save roughly $25 by going from the airport to the port rather than from a resort to the port. For me, that wouldn’t be worth the additional time it would take to bring my family and luggage to the Magical Express bus, take the bus to the boarding drop-off area at the airport (with possible stops at other resorts first), unload the luggage, and walk with it to get to the pick-up location.

You could save more by using a group shuttle from the airport to the port, but it would still mean a lot of juggling people and luggage.

If your goal is to arrive early to the port, your best bet is to take private transportation directly from Port Orleans.

If you are at least 3 days before your cruise, there should be no fee for cancelling the Disney cruise transportation.

Thank you

We do Happy Limo, can pick the time they pick you up and go straight to the port.
Our travel agent always suggests Happy Limo.. haven't tried it myself. We use Uber since we can get there earlier than the Magical Express and we don't have to wait long when we disembark where we found waiting for random hotel shuttles after the cruise could mean hours waiting.

How early do want to get to the port? Open boarding is usually 12 anyway.

We have taken the bus from Port Orleans a lot , you get to the port around 1 . It’s so easy and when you get in the terminal there isn’t much of a line up to check in. Then you can almost go to your cabin after that or for lunch where it would have thinned out.

We have also taking Tiffany town car from the resort as well but that is pretty expensive and than add a tip. Plus a family of 4 we just got our luggage in the huge trunk...lol

We are going on the Fantasy Feb 1....we are arriving in Florida on the 31st. Picking up a rental at MCO and then visiting WDW for the day. Staying at a hotel off property then driving the rental to the port and dropping off the morning of the cruise. We have done this tons of time and gets us to the port around 10:30. The drive to the port is very easy from WDW.
