If we are staying at a Disney resort( maybe AKL) and are taking a cruise out of port canaveral (Royal Carribean) on a Friday. Can we use the Disney cruise transportation for our cruise. Or what is the most affordable ways to get from a Disney resort to port canaveral.
Thanks

No you cannot use the Disney cruise transfers (which, at $35 per person each way, are not even the most affordable for groups of 4 or more sailing Disney).

I recommend hiring a private town car service. You can get a car or van depending on your group size and be taken directly from your hotel to port without having to pick up others or share your ride. You can generally request to stop at a grocery store if there are any items you want to pick up.

We like Tiffany Town car--though there are many companies out there to choose from.

Gernally less expensive is doing a one way car rental. It is more of a hassle though--especially as you are starting from a resort and not the airport. You could take Me to the airport in the morning (just send one person) to pick up the car, or rent from one that you can pick up on property (at the car care center Or Dolphin Hotel).

You can't use the Disney cruise transportation if you're not on a Disney cruise.

A town car, which will accommodate up to four people and a decent amount of luggage, will run about $220 (plus tip) for round trip Resort-Port-Airport transfers. Larger parties requiring a larger vehicle would cost more.

There are those who do one-way car rentals and swear by that option as the cheapest, but there's the extra steps of picking up and dropping of cars, getting from the car rental location to the port and vice versa, etc.

Presumably you also could take DME for free from AKL to MCO, then pick up whatever transfer options RCCL offers from the airport.

FWIW, a town car for four generally is less expensive than cruise transfers for four.

there are 4 of us. We have reservations at the Swan (and want to keep it that way hopefully) SO. WE thought of. Renting the cheapest ugliest(lol) car when we arrive at the Orlando AIrport. Having that car for our whole stay( realizing swan is $10/day parking) and take the rental car to the cruise port(pay cruise parking) and then take the car back to airport when we fly home.
It would be about $200 for car rental. Plus apprx $65 for parking. THis will also be easier because my step father is arriving a day later. so my mother was planning on picking him up at the airport the next day (rental car would make easier)

How does that sound?

Wondering the same thing. 11 day holiday cruise on Diz Magic ... $15 a day to park plus the cost of renting the car to sit in the lot .. does not add up. Looking into a service to get us from a lace in Orlando to port, back to Orlando (a home not a resort). Big group... at least 9 of us, two of those in car seat.

Most of the town car places, like Tiffany and FL Tours, also offer van service that will run $250-300 plus tip for round trip transfers from the Orlando area to Port Canaveral. Price will vary slightly by where you are being picked up and dropped off in Orlando. I would look into that type of transportation.

I just did this. We were staying at Disney (BCV) and then catching the RCCL on Friday and returned monday (yesterday) We used Mike at Executive VIP limousine and sedan service. His rates were $75 for a town car and $150 for a limo. From BCV to RCCL we used the town car because there was just 2 of us. On the way back we had the rest of our group traveling back to the airport so we used the Limo and the rate was $150 (split 5 ways).

The service was great! Prompt, friendly and great communication. I would recommend them to anyone. Mike is the owner and just really nice guy. Their number is 321-505-0009. You can pm me if you have any questions about them.

We did a one way car rental. Picked up at MCO dropped off Port and took rental shuttle to port.

Then reversed on the way back. Picked up near port then dropped off at MCO.

I am not going to give anyone the benefit of the doubt anymore. There have been three 'first posts' from posters stating the benefits of one particular company. That surely does sound like something else.
Now, understand...I have no issue whatsoever with anyone coming here and letting us know about particular companies they have used..both good and bad. BUT...when it's a person's first post, and it happens more than once, with yet another new poster saying the same thing, about the same company, then I am going to be suspicious.
So....please don't come along and give us a review of a particular company as your first ever post.

This is basically what I do for all cruises out of the Port (including Disney) The other advantage is that you can leave "excess" luggage in the car which means it takes up less space in your room!

I no longer trust any Orlando based town car service. It seems to be a market run by "unprofessional" people using thier personal car and companies who are clueless. (Hint, if you have to have a MANDATORY tip then you are doing something wrong! Tips are provided for good service, "mandatory" means "we aren't sure we can give good service but you have to pay us either way" IMHO!)

Since I'm the only one that mentioned a company by name I guess you are referring to my post? I have no connection with the company I suggested. I found the name listed on the DIS somewhere in one of these threads. Called the guy, liked the service and was happy to recommend him. Sure I am not a frequent posted just not my style but I've been reading this board for a long time. Most advice on here has been repeated over and over so I rarely feel the need to add my 2 cents. However, this was a company I don't see mentioned often, I used the service, saw that someone else was looking for help, and thought I'd give my opinion. If it doesn't have as much value to someone because I'm not a frequent poster then so be it however I don't appreciate having my opinion "questioned" simply because I don't post all the time. I live in KY - never met Mike before I cruised and never talked to him again. However when I have great service I am always happy to share my experience.

And FWIW - I came back to this thread because I have a friend cruising soon who was looking for a limo company to use and I had forgot the name but knew I had posted about it long ago. So I came back to find the info. :)

If you will notice, I said 'first posts'...that certainly isn't you. I have an issue with someone that comes along, and their very first, and pretty much only post, is one that either is really promoting a company or is really negative about a company. Those are generally not on the up and up.
Your post did not fall into that catagory..which is why it wasn't deleted. Believe me, you would know if it was an issue....:thumbsup2
You're good.

We are renting a car for our whole stay because we are staying off site and we are keeping the car while we are on our cruise and taking it back to the airport. I wanted to mention an alternative to parking right at Port Canaveral. Park N Cruise is getting good reviews over on Cruise Critic and it's only $4.99 a day if you reserve in advance online. I reserved last week. It's apparently very close to the port and the shuttles run frequently.
