Werner posted some information on the Cruise board and it looked kindof interesting, as I'd not seen anything like it before.

There's a company that is selling cruise ship timeshares www.cruiseshares.com

When you look at their prices and compare with DVCs price/per point, an ownership interest that allowed 2 people to cruise for 7 days would require 360 points for a Cat "A" cabin. Compare that with the 250-300 points per adult needed for a Cat 4, 7 Day cruise with DCL.

A minimum purchase of 150 points would let 2 people cruise in a Cat 11 cabin for 7 days.

Interestingly enough, maintance costs for 2 people looks like it would run between $3 to $4/point - which is typical of existing DVC resorts.

Looks to me like we should be lobbying DVD to purchase/build a ship that can become a DVC "resort" and sell ownership interests in it. I know we'd probably add on some points just for that.

Interesting idea, but somewhat risky as ownership is for "life of vessel" and then that is estimated at most 20 years. Disney could probably not do it at the price ranges they are suggesting. Had to look closely to see where the owner/operator really intends to make its money--it has a gambling casino.
