Are the servers still handing food tray at door or have they started coming inside your room?

They bring it inside your room like they used to. I had room service on the Fantasy in March, so I speak from experience.

In my experience, they rather insist on coming into the room, too. I guess they don't want us dropping anything and making a mess or burning someone with hot coffee. But, it's kind of annoying. There's no good way to hold the door for the room service person because that space between the closets and bathroom isn't very wide.

They often encourage you to not hold the door. I've tried and had them ask me to stand back, because they know how to manage that as part of the process.

Virgin voyages have a great room service offering with "ship eats" where the food comes in bags that keep the food hot. The tray thing is so inconvenient

I disagree. Having the meal brought in on a tray makes it feel civilized, like a real meal, not just getting take out. There is also less waste than when everything is bagged up.

I don't mind them coming in later in the day, but it's less great to have them coming in while everyone is getting ready in the morning. So, morning coffee timing requires more planning than I'd like.

It's a minor complaint, though. I won't go on about it.

There was no waste. Everything is packaged in reusable containers. You use the word civilised, any breakfast I've had on room service with DCL has been squashed on a tray that is hard to use when navigating the door. It's awkward when it's delivered and the tray takes up a lot of space when youbare done with it. I recommend checking out Virgin Voyages Ship Eats before disregarding the bag idea. Its not like a carrier bag with a polystyrene box set up.

I stand in the bathroom and hold it open. Then they put their toe up against it so no one has to hold it at that point.
