nope-even though i've got great health insurance via my retirement package even it does'nt cover anything outside the country or on a cruise ship not deemed 'life threatening' by them. so i would'nt be able to access routine or not so routine medical care without incurring high out of pocket expenses.
i'de consider doing something similar to what my mom's in though-she's in a senior housing complex thats owned/operated by one of the major hotel chains (either hyatt or hilton-not sure) that provides her with a large one bedroom apartment with a terrace, housekeeping services, 3 meals a days in a hotel like dining room (and very good food-not institutional style), all her utlities as well as expanded cable. theres an on call transportation system she can use at her leisure for doctors appointments, shopping-whatever. AND unless she becomes disabled to the extent that she needs full time nursing home care she can opt in/out of varying levels of assisted living-all the time being able to stay in the same apartment. she pays 2200.00 per month total.
i think anyone considering the option in the article needs to realize that the figures they are using reflect a person in a long term care facility-and someone who requires that type of care is not going to be able to enjoy all the beneifts of a cruiseline or live on a cruise ship unless they have the resources for 24/7 personal need attendants.
