Hi.
Are we able to book DCL with borrowing points?
For instance, if I book a cruise for September 2015, can I use some of my
September 2016 U/Y points to book it?

Thank you.

Yes, you can used banked and/or borrowed points when booking a cruise.

Ohh, I was expecting no, so this makes it interesting LOL
Thank you very much. You are always so helpful!!

So, my next step is to call whom, DCL or DVC? I want to see what is available for points for the cruise I am looking at
with my points. THANK YOU!

To book with points, you call DVC. You can also mix cash & points. When booking via DVC, one passenger must be booked on points, the others can be either cash or points. You can't mix cash & points for a single passenger. Any cash portion must be paid in full at the time of booking. The DVC Member Cruises are an exception to the rule, you can book all cash for those.

While you can, you might want to take into consideration that the effective cost of paying for a cruise with points is about 40-50% more than paying for it with cash. I would recommend that instead of directly using your points for the cruise, rent them out instead and use the rent monies to pay cash, that way you have an opportunity to still have a land vacation as well or upgrade your ship accommodations. FWIW

Thank you very, very much!

Thanks so much! Thought quickly about that but I have them and thinking just may use them. Plus, they would be 2016 with a September U/Y, although I guess if I could get someone that wanted a big transfer, that would work, otherwise, I think I just would do the switch. Thank you though.

FYI the pay cash at booking immediately also goes for transportation and hotels pre and post cruise and pretty much anything booked through Disney except excursions.

We did a 12 night Mediterranean cruise on points in 2013 and would do it again in a heartbeat -- it truly was the trip of a lifetime! :goodvibes

I would be doing the full room on points, not half/half.
Thank you all.
