Hi, I am thinking of booking a cruise for June 2004 with points for one cabin, my use year is June. I have about 50pts left of my 2003 points and would borrow all of my 2004 points. Since the cruise is in June 2004 could I borrow from my 2005 points?? I am asking because I would like to upgrade an existing vacation for July and use the 50 points from 2003, but this would leave me short for the cruise. I know I could do this for a dvc resort but I am not sure if it works the same for a cruise?? Thanks, Joan

You should be able to borrow the 2005 points, since points are accrued on the 1st of the month. You won't have to borrow the 2004 points since they will be in your account prior to your sail date.

Thanks, eva! You saved me a call to MS! Joan

We booked on the Disney Wonder in Jan. 2003 using points. However, the day after I booked the cruise the cash price was steeply discounted. As it turned out it was not a productive use of points. When I called MS they advised me there was nothing they could do about it and they had no way of knowing when DVC members book on points when a cash discount would be offered.

I offer the above for your info. Although we enjoyed the cruise I could not help but think of all the points we could have saved for a future trip. Or, we could have used the points for one person and pay for the other. Anyway I felt this was a shortcoming of MS. Perhaps at a future time MS maybe able to coordinate this endeavor.

Enjoy the cruise--it was great!!
