Cruise or WDW for 30th - Really need help

Resort
Unless you are planning on doing more than sleeping in the hotel at WDW, why go for a moderate or higher room? When we go to the world from the Pacific North West (probably a longer travel day than from Scotland :lmao:) we sleep at night and if we are there between May and October, we will need to take a mid day nap to get away from the heat and able to stay out until closing time.

Rain
Rain in Orlando - "every day" throughout the summer -- I think its scheduled between 3-6 every day. Hot Humid Rain!! And some times strong winds as well. And in the Caribbean you can get that afternoon rain / downpour as well. In either case the rain will be warmer than your morning shower!!

I will let you know that Big Thunder Mountain during a summer "more gentle" rain (still with the over sized rain drops) is an interesting and somewhat painful experience. Those huge raindrop do sting when they hit and you are moving 30mph!! ::yes::

What to Do? What to Do :confused3
well when I was in my 30's, Disneyland and WDW were no brainers (any time for as long as possible!!). Now in my 50's I still love the parks, but I love cruising MORE:thumbsup2.

That being said, how much time to you have? If you are leaning towards WDW, you could split your time between WDW and Universal/Islands of Adventure - and visit the Wizarding World of HP as well.

Final Thoughts
Aren't these "nice" problems to have!!

Haha yeah it is nice problems to have lol

Am thinking cos it's a longer stay, and I'd be doing things in Orlando I haven't done, staying at a Disney resort and the fact am going to Florida rather than 2 and a bit hours and for the same price WDW may be the better option

We love cruising so much but think I'll need to decide now lol

Its such a big thing for us to pick mainly because after this trip we are going to settle down mybe kids etc and we probley won't have the money to do ethier

ah yes, children - can't imagine your life with them BC, Can't believe that LIFE existed after them!!!

But yes, they do cost money - lots of it. And for us, it meant giving up Disney Parks trips for at least 3 years - because I am NOT going to be dragging a kid around WDW - not my idea of fun!!

And remember NOT to Grow Up when you Settle Down. Life's too much fun!!

Yeah true. Well think we have decided for my 30th to go for WDW and stay at POR. As much as we love cruising we need to pick one and so far I think that one would give us new experiences and not doing a repeat cruise

Oh god

Just looked into the cost of it all again and I had missed stuff out of the WDW trip

And it's worked out the cruise is 1000+ cheaper.

Hmm now am thinking cruise

What a idiot can't believe I added that up wrong

need a CPA (Certified Public Accountant - don't know what they're called in Scotland :)) to help plan your trip? :teeth:

When in 2018 will you travel? Since 2018 summer cruises and WDW rates aren't available yet - how do you know what things will cost? I wouldn't count on "free" dining being available at WDW during the summer months, and DCL might not offer 7-night Med cruises from Barcelona. You can get a rough idea of costs based on 2017 prices, but cruise itineraries could be totally different.

As to what *I* would do - I prefer WDW, but NOT during the summer when it is so hot and humid. I also wouldn't cruise in the Med during the summer for the same reason. But since you like hot weather - enjoy whichever you choose! :teeth:

Other issue for us what they cruise is there is more chance of rain and we get enough of that in Scotland so definitely want some sun lol

If you want sun... Florida can be a bit chilly during winter (dec to feb) so you might end up wearing sweatshirts and coats in a WDW vacation depending on when you plan to go on vacation. We've travelled in October and November and we have been unlucky in terms of weather twice.

You know you can always do Land & Sea with a short 3 or 4 nights cruise on the Dream. The best of both worlds!

I have taken the prices for when I would be going from 2017 for both trips as I don't think there will be to big a difference

Free dinning has been available here in the U.K. Across the summer months for many of years now

You are very fortunate in the UK to have free dining offered during the summer! As far as the cruise goes, you will need to wait until later in the spring to see the 2018 European itineraries.

Yeah I think by the looks of it though if we do a European cruise we would save 1000 min and that's with free dinning.

Plus 200 dollars onboard and 10 percent off if I get a place holder so starting so think the cruise mybe best now
