I am a WDW expert, but I have never been on a Disney cruise. We are going to do a 3 day Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream in May 2017 for my 30th birthday and before we start planning for our third child. Our kids will be 7 and 3 at that time.

My biggest dilemma right now is which stateroom to choose. There are two I am deciding between. They both have verandahs and both are in the aft of the boat but one is at the very very back of the boat. The first one is stateroom 9666. The second is 10160. Does anyone know anything about either of these? I know Deck 9 is apparently great, but the stateroom on Deck 10 has a HUGE verandah. I have read some reviews of people complaining about the noise level on Deck 10 as well. Does anyone have experience with either Deck or even better, either stateroom? They are the exact same price, so cost is not a factor. OR if either of these isn't a great option and someone has another suggestion, please tell me! I don't know when the next time we will do a Disney cruise will be, so I want to do it right.

Other questions: any tips on must sees/dos?

For anyone who responds: THANK YOU!!

I have never been on a cruise and plan to take our first next year. Room choice for me, even at WDW, comes down to how much time I will spend in it. On a 3 night cruise, I would think I would be in the room at most 6 hours a day and that is to sleep. I thinkt there is too much going on that I would not want to be in the room. Based on my reading, 3 nights would not allow me to come close to doing everything I would want to do.

there is TOO MUCH information here to easily digest.....start with the FAQs....then try some searches. When you have specific questions, ask them.
The resident experts will be more than HAPPY to answer you...
Meanwhile, when I first DCLed, I read some trip reports as well.

Good luck, and :welcome:

Also, be aware that there is NO WAY to do everything. Even on the longer cruises (well, ok, MAYBE on a trans-Atlantic or a Panama Canal...I haven't been on those). So going into it thinking you want to do everything is setting yourself up for failure.

And really there is no universal "right" way to do it (in spite of how it may sound on here sometimes). Each person's/family's "right" way to do things will be totally different! :)

I was just wondering which stateroom was better or if anyone had a deck preference and why. I never once said I want to do everything, never mind making it the highlight of my question.

Sorry I asked!

I've stayed on both and have no big preference. I'd say if you think you'd spend a lot of time on the verandah and aren't a light sleeper, then the 10th deck cabin would be great. If you need a little "soundproofing" or plan on taking advantage of many activities and won't be in your room a lot then 9th deck might be preferable.

3 day is WAY TOO short to do everything. We are going on our 12th cruise, have only stayed mid ship verandas, I have heard aft you can feel the vibrations/

It's probably partly your thread title that people are responding to :). There truly are so many things to see and do, we probably couldn't even list them all in one thread. Your best bet is to search for the threads about things to do on embarkation day, sea days, excursions, shows, pools, and ship activities. Those topics will get you started on your search. You'll find what to look for next from there :)
To find out about rooms, your best bet is to check out room reports. You can find them in the room reports subforum of this forum or you can google DISboards dcl room report xxxx (room number) or similar. Just be aware that you need to select your specific ship once you've found the reports. There will be a drop-down menu at the top. You'll always need to select your ship, every time you put in a room number. Most people put their reviews there if there is anything notable about the room (noise, etc).

But truly, as others have said, you'll almost certainly be on the go most of the time on a 3-day. So I wouldn't stress about the room too much if you don't find detailed info to help guide your search. All of the rooms will have the same bedding and fixtures (except concierge). That said, I'd go for the extended balcony aft. And bring some ear plugs (I always do anyway) just in case. Happy sailing!

I was responding to a combination of your comment that you "wanted to do it right" and your "Any other tips/suggestions"

I am not fussy about my stateroom - I've done everything from Concierge (on DCL) to Inside (on another line) hitting Balcony and Ocean View along the way. Give me as high and/or close to the bow as possible, and I am a happy camper. I'm on the ship - that is what matters to me.

easy there killer....they're just trying to be helpful

We have always done verandah aft rooms. We really like aft and have no problem with noise or vibration. We have never stayed in the verandahs at the very back though so don't know how they rate.

If the huge verandah is important to you, then go with that. I've read about the noise, too. Are you light sleepers? If not, it may not bother you. But Cabanas will be right above you, so the concern is the chairs scraping on the floor. But that is a really nice balcony!

i prefer midship if available...
and a deck that has staterooms above and below to control noise levels in the room...

i found this youtube of the room next to 9666

and here are two youtubes of room 10160
