Can someone tell me about the FE that I keep reading about in posts?

I hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

We was on the Maiden Voyage of the Dream (Jan 21st), is this the sailing you was on? We had a great time!

** FE WILL CLOSE ON MARCH 15th**

I think I saw a few people asking about what is a FE... so here is a post I created when I was the person in charge of the FE's for another Disney Cruise

What is a FE? It is a “Fish Extender” meaning a pocket of some type that hangs from your Disney Cruise Line “fish” outside your door, where Cast Members leave your confirmations and such.

This is a fun game started by a group of travelers to make the Cruising experience just a little bit more FUN. It is sort of like a Secret Santa… you will get a final listing prior to cruising (about 15 days prior) of who all is participating, so you can leave little “gifts” or “goodies” in others FE’s. You can do as many or as few as you like, there is NO rules or guidelines, it is meant to be fun for all and not to cause worry or stress – we are all on vacation – good times only!!

Ideas of other peoples gifts for suggestions and ideas: something to represent your state/country, favorite snack food, cruise themed items (beach balls, sunglasses..), pencils. It is just meant to be a fun little surprise when you get back to your rooms, not a huge investment of money! REMEMBER FUN!

Where do I get a FE? Many people have purchased theirs from Ebay or you can make your own. This is completely up to you.

How do I participate in a FE? You just notify the person in charge of the FE's for your trip and they will happily add you to the list. Then typically about 2-4 weeks prior to the cruise, you will be emailed or a updated list posted for your records.

Hello, I tried to send you a private message through the DIS boards but since I have not had enough postings yet it won't allow me to send a private message. Can I just post the information in the thread? Will that be okay. We would really like to participate in the fun!!! Thanks!

I've started the FE gifts, but I still don't have a Fe. I still need to make some light weight tops for the cruise and find or make something for formal night.

Wow Travelcharm, I envy you. I can't sew on a button, let alone, make something to wear. I still have no idea what I'm wearing for formal night or pirate night. I'm a plus size girl on top and makes finding clothes that look nice difficult. Hope to do some shopping soon and pray for shopping pixie dust to help me find something that will work and is affordable. I don't want much, do I?:rotfl:

We just booked a room Friday before the cruise at the Radison 3/4 of a mile from the port.

It is a standard room for the 4 of us and is for cruisers with free parking during the cruise and shuttle to and from the port $148.

Has anyone ever stayed here before?? If so would like to hear about your experiences here. The room has sleep number beds and the pool looks very nice with a water fall and slide. Does this hotel have beach access??

Originally we were going to leave central PA Friday evening and use the park and cruise service but decided it would be better to spend a relaxing day near the port and be refreshed before boarding.:cool1:

Any dinner recommendations nearby for Friday evening?

I have another question about boarding times. The first shuttle leaving for port from the Radison is at 10:30am.

What time does the port open? Since we are so close and arriving a day early we would like to board as soon as possible. I thought about driving the family over myself after 9:00am with our luggage and then catching the hotel shuttle over to the port.

Would my family need to wait for me to complete the check-in or can my wife check us in / register for the kids clubs until I would arrive later??

My dad and I will be heading to Orlando tomorrow and cruising the Dream till Sunday, then we have a work convention in Orlando till Tuesday. After that I will surely be more pumped for this cruise then I am now:cool1:

When you do your on line check in you pick a port arrival time, they may not let you in if you are early depending on how crowded the terminal is. Concierge and Platinum cruisers are exempt from picking an arrival time. The port doesn't open until about 11 and I have heard of people being turned away who came in earlier.

You do not need to be there to be checked in, whoever does the check in needs your id, you will also need id to get into the terminal.

BillandAngie - Sure just post your FE information and I will get you added!

Excited to have you join us!

We are staying at the Radisson too! We love it there, close to port, and we like to go down to Ron Jon Surf shop and Cocoa beach when we arrive (We take a cab down to the shop/beach and its about 10 min away, if that). Pool is nice - no beach access, but close to take a cab (5-10 mins away) - resturant is a bit expensive on site, but we just eat at the bar/resturant down at Ron Jon's.

Radisson earliest shuttle is perfect, as the port opens at 11 now, so you arrive in perfect time, not much waiting if they havent opened security gates yet :)

A lot of people recommend "Fish Lips" resturant, as its on the pier with great seafood and atmosphere to see and watch the ships in port!

Hope this helps some

** FE UPDATES **

We currently have 25 cabins (with 44 adults and 30 kiddos)

There is a lot of newbies and activity on the boards the closer we get to our sailing date  So I have decided that IF we get to 30 cabins then I will have to divide (randomly) our FE into 2 smaller groups of 15ish cabins each - to make it more managable for everyones pocketbooks ;) I will advise with more details IF this happens.

I am also attaching the most current FE list link for those of you who wish to have it to start preparing your FE gifts!

How are you getting to cocoa beach? We are renting a minivan at Budget MCO ($45) and staying at Country Inn and Suites. Then we have a car to run any trips or errands and go to eat.

Ill return that in the AM and ride the Budget shuttle to the port at 1030ish.

If you are allowed in the port with your luggage 9AM, you wont have anywhere to put it. They wont collect it until close to 1045 or so.

We are going to a steakhouse called mouse trap (used to be Durangos) Friday night.

Wow, that is a great rate on the rented van! Did you have a discount code? We are looking to rent a vehicle at mco as well, but I haven't found a rate that low.

I think we are going to check out Fishlips, love the name:rotfl:

Happy Valentine's Day to all, hope you all feel loved:love:

We are actually coming in the 19th. I checked and the rate is the same ($45 a day)but it looks like its based on a 2 day rental.....

I think that restaurant is usually packed and hard to get food unless you are willing to wait.

Try U341012 or Z844147 or S208200 $68 for a one day rental on a minivan.

Costco member? W852800 and pay now is $65

Thank you for explaining the port times. We will only be cruising for our second time (last year 2-28-11 we were on a 3 day Dream Cruise). pirate:

Only a year ago but I could not remember the time we arrived at the port from the Wilderness Lodge via our car.

I remmeber reading about being turned away last year of you were too early.

Well we are driving in non-stop from central PA, leaving about 7-8pm Thursday night and expect to arrive around lunch time at the Raddison.
We can drive to Cocoa Beach.
We can check in if the room is ready or head to the beach for a few hours.

Is there a certain area of the beach we should look for or also avoid??? Any spot near the Ron Jon shop ok?? We never were on the FL atlantic beaches but were at Clearwater a few times in the gulf.

Seems easier to just take the hotel shuttle to the port, thanks again for your insight!

Thank you also for your port times information. It seems the 10:30 shuttle from the hotel will be the best way for us to get to the port.

On our drive to the beach and Ron Jon we can see what choices there are to eat.
