Cruise Meet -April 21, 2012 - 7 Night Eastern Caribbean

364 days!! Woot woot!

I've been doing a bit of research on possible excursions and think I might book my own instead of going through Disney. In St. Thomas, we're considering booking a private sail/snorkel tour. There are several captains and most limit the number per sail to 6. It's expensive but so are the excursions booked through Disney. This option would provide 6 hours and most list 2 snorkel times. When we booked a snorkel excursion on Nassau a few years ago there were so many people on the boat that it was hard to get a good spot during the sail.

Anyone else done this or considering booking privately?

We'll probably book stuff privately, it makes sense financially for the most part, as long as you don't miss the boat!!! :)

I bought the Passporter which has great descriptions of all of Disney's excursions, as well as ways to do them 'on your own' for those that they have info for.

If this is your first cruise, I think the passporter is invaluable, and you shouldn't need to get the newest one. The ports haven't changed, just the ship, so you could get away with getting a 2010 edition of the Passporter.
I'm a big PassPorter fan. I'm going to hold out for the 2011 version which according to their podcast should be coming out in the next month or so. I want to read about the Dream to get a good idea about the new ships. I know they will change the Fantasy a little with the tweeks.

Here is a link for the Disney port excursions..just click on which port you want to look at:

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/

than I just used the search button on the forum and read about different excursions on the Eastern Caribbean that people had been on. One of the most talked about on St. Maarten is the Bernard Tours,

and Captain Alan's tours....

http://www.captainalan.com/

or you can google excursions for St. Thomas and St. Maarten and there are quite a few options. :goodvibes

Thanks for the links! I'll be checking them out this weekend.

:yay:Less than one year away!!!:dance3:

We have decided to book through Bernard Tours on St, Maarten. The tours get great reviews and it sounds like fun. I contacted him already,,I know,,jumping the gun but we don't want to miss going on this tour. We already have a confirmation with them. St, Thomas, I think we are gonna go through Disney and go to Maegans Bay and than afterwards do a little shopping.

So excited!!! This year won't go by fast enough

***************************************

What is a FE? It is a “Fish Extender” meaning a pocket of some type that hangs from your Disney Cruise Line “fish” outside your door, where Cast Members leave your confirmations and such.

This is a fun game started by a group of travelers to make the Cruising experience just a little bit more FUN. It is sort of like a Secret Santa… you will get a final listing prior to cruising (about 15 days prior) of who all is participating, so you can leave little “gifts” or “goodies” in others FE’s. You can do as many or as few as you like, there is NO rules or guidelines, it is meant to be fun for all and not to cause worry or stress – we are all on vacation – good times only!!

Ideas of other peoples gifts for suggestions and ideas: something to represent your state/country, favorite snack food, cruise themed items (beach balls, sunglasses..), pencils. It is just meant to be a fun little surprise when you get back to your rooms, not a huge investment of money! REMEMBER FUN!

Where do I get a FE? Many people have purchased theirs from Ebay or you can make your own. This is completely up to you.

How do I participate in a FE? You just notify the person in charge of the FE's for your trip and they will happily add you to the list. Then typically about 2-4 weeks prior to the cruise, you will be emailed or a updated list posted for your records.

Welcome back, nikicares!
I just got a CD of Twice Charmed and am totally pumped about it. Got it ripped into my Zune.

I have been wanting to see that for awhile now, but have not made the time :sad2: I am sooo computer illiterate that I dont even know what Zune is :confused3 I doubt I would even know what ITunes was if I didnt have a 15 year old in the house, lol.

I am excited to see the new Pirates :)

I have been reading some of the FE posts trying to find something creative for my FE gift - but I am sadly not crafty as many many of these DISers! So I will have to try and get the juices flowing and see what I can come up with.

Zune is from Microsoft, it's like an iPod touch and iTunes.

Sending thoughts and prayers out to any of our cruisers and thier families that may be dealing with loss or devastation from the awful tornado's last week!!

I live in Kansas, and know personally how awful tornado's can be and how it can change lives forever. Prayers to all in need!

We just got back from the Wonder Pacific coast repo cruise. We had a great time although it was a little cool and windy on the outer decks. Two days in San Francisco was a great and sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge was quite a sight.

Now I can look forward to this cruise, I love the warmth of the Caribbean.

Just got back from the LA to Vancouver Repro it was great. Booked 4/21/2012 for The Fantasy while on board. I see there are Repro folks already booked on this cruise. Looking forward to seeing you all again. It will be here before we know it. Should we start packing yet???:rotfl: Have a trip to WDW Ft. Wilderness scheduled for Sept can't wait.

We just got of the East Coast Repo cruise, now we can start planning for this cruise. We will also spend time in Disney also. Can't wait to cruise again.

I'm glad I had previous on board date booked to move to this cruise, that line for the booking desk on the Repo cruise was crazy.

Welcome back! Looks like there was lots of you on the Repo cruise:thumbsup2

I have never done a repo cruise, but it is on my list of 'must cruises' along with Hawaii on Disney... but that one was booked full once it was announced :sad2:

Oh well, I am very excited about this Fantasy cruise!! Can not wait to start seeing more on the ships progress on the Disney Site... keeps me 'fantasizing' about this cruise!

Fair warning - we were on the crusie that never ended (see above link) I think my luck may have caused it all.

Can't wait to see you all there.

:surfweb:

Warrenite,
We were on the Magic also when we got to stay at Castaway Cay all night. We had a blast. We like to think of it as the overnighters club. See you on the Fantasy.

Yes the line was nuts. I waited once for 1.5 hours then left still had 4 people in front of me. It was time for the drink of the day. :drinking1 Finely did get the res made. Looking forward to the Eastern Fantasy cruise.

Hi right back! We also didn't mind the extra night the comedy show was great, I just had a bit of a wait to rearrange our flights home.

See y'all on the Fantasy.

John

I am seeing a trend - how many people had the privilege of staying overnight at castaway on the 8 day cruise?
