Cruise magnets and where to have them made...

In the past we have used some the of super cool folks on this board to make custom pictures for us to turn into cruise magnets. Does anyone know where to do this now? I am happy to pay for the service if anyone has any recommendations. We have a family friends that are first time cruisers and would love to surprise them with a decorated door. Thanks!

I think most people just use magnetic paper to print on.

I put all my pictures into a large file and had a 'poster' made on photo paper. I then cut them out and put magnets on the back. I bought a roll of magnetic tape from Walmart and also some of those magnets you can stick on business cards from Staples. That was all I needed.

I think someone a few years ago mentioned getting her photo file (like my poster file) on the magnets they use for sticking on the side of car doors for advertising and then cutting them out. I forget who she used, though.

Oops... you didn't mean how do you get them printed... you meant how do you get the artwork? Sorry. I make my own with Photoshop Elements and with Powerpoint. I've downloaded the Waltograph font, so it's really easy. Others here might be able to chime in on where to find crafters to do it for you, but you might try the DIS Creative designs board:

Thanks, but I was talking about having the actual picture made. I am not very handy with the computer, but there were a lot of magnets where you could have custom names on the ship motif/that sort of thing... I usually did the same - printing out on heavy paper and then attaching to door w magnetic tape. Do you have any idea who can make these custom names (the actual photo)?

I buy magnetic paper from one of the big Hobby stores. I use pictures and graphics and make my own. I fit as many as I can on a page and cut them out. I have not problem feeding the paper through my inkjet. Works great and I have been using them year after year, adding new ones every so often.

Thanks Bonnie 1222 - I wish I had the talent/time to make my own pictures/graphics. It has been a long time since I have been on Dis Boards... can't believe there is an entire section now for creative designs. Cool!

Actually, I'm glad @FigmentSpark put the link. I didn't know about that section either. LOL. I just google searched and found a bunch a graphics I liked. Guess I'll be searching these boards too!

If there is a cruise group you can join you can ask there. Often people will share their designs. Our EBPC group has lots of cool designs that are shared.

Etsy would be my suggestion. Some great designs there, most not too costly. Cruise groups sometimes share designs. One lady from ours actually offered to make some simple magnets for anyone who wanted some. I design mine on Powerpoint, print on card stock, glue to magnetic sheets (my printer is cranky and broke when I tried to feed the sheets directly through last summer). Good luck!
