I heard a rumor about Disney starting a Hawaii cruise down the line. I think it's false, since there is no Disney parks there.

I haven't heard that.....but that is a trip I would do in a heartbeat!

I think the only thing that can be said with any certainty is that there are no current plans to have a DCL ship in Hawaii. They have also talked about positioning a ship in Alaska, but haven't yet. And there was talk a few summers ago of the Magic relocating to the Mediterranean for the season, but that didn't end up happening.

I think that in the future, if the DCL fleet is expanded, the cruises won't necessarily be tied to their theme parks in every case. Of course, if I could predict the future, I would play the lottery....

I hope they cruise Alaska before Hawaii :)

As much as I'd like to see Alaska, I can't imagine packing jackets, pants coats and heavy shoes to take on a cruise. The staterooms barely hold enough for a family of three (especially Mom and a daughter:hyper: ) as it is.

OOh I'd love to take the kids on an Alaska or Hawaii cruise. I can't really see a DCL Hawaii cruise in the near future but if DCL has a third ship on the west coast Alaska cruises may not be out of the question. I'll just cross my fingers & hope for the best.

I think the first place would for any new ship would be LA.

Disney likes to separate itself from the competition. So it would need to build a new terminal (lots of $$$$) etc before placing a ship at any port full time.

If they did a Mexican Riviera cruise I think you would also see Disney buying a small piece of land in the general vicinity to build a Castaway Cay equivalent...

I don't think Alaska will ever be in the future of the Wonder or Magic. Both are warm weather ships. Ships that go to Alaska tend to have retractable roofs over the pools and top deck.
We did the 12-27-03 Eastern on the Magic, and in June of 2002 we were on HAL's Amstersdam to Alaska. They were having a heatwave in Alaska at the time, it was 72 in Juneau, but still pretty cool for unprotected pools.
Did great some great pictures of the kids and I in the only uncovered pool, aft, and heated with the Hubbard Glacier behind us, and chunks of ice floating by.
