Is room service free?

On our second cruise we ordered coffee, fresh fruit, and muffins each morning.. it was the perfect wake up call! I would wake up at the beginning of our 30 minute time frame and wait for the light knock on the door-- my cabin mates didn't even stir. Wish I had known about this option during our first cruise, but somehow overlooked the card in the drawer

The coffee at dinner was excellent, the rest of the coffee was terrible.

Okay, I'm no coffee connoisseur but DD#2 and I were on the Honolulu to Vancouver cruise in Sept, and stayed at Aulani before. Our checkout morning we were offered a french press of 100% Kona coffee and we said, "yes!". It was as though we both had a "coffee epiphany", LOL. And we ordered a carafe of coffee each and every morning from room service on the cruise. We just filled out the hang-card that a previous poster was so kind to photo post. I always take a stash of one dollar bills and just leave them in a dresser drawer, ready to pull out a few as tip for room service.

One tip, when you are through with your tray, just give a quick call to room service before you leave your stateroom to let them know you are placing your tray outside your door. It was so nice that our door was never cluttered with used room service trays when we saw so many others in the halls.

That might work for your situation, but I would bet most others would call down again and say no on delivered my coffee.
You could write on the card please knock quietly?

You can try the room service coffee as stated above. We followed advice of ordering it the night before and it really was still hot in the morning. Or just plan to have it delivered in the morning.
This year, we plan to take either Via or Trader Joe's Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate so we can add hot water. Must. Have. Coffee!

I am a fussy coffee drinker (okay snob). I pack a folding pour over, some filters, grounds and plastic bags to dispose of filters. I ask room service for a pot of hot water. I drink Americanos and the one I got on the Magic in January was one of the worst coffees I have ever had.

The one by the pool deck was bitter/burnt tasting every time we tried it, but we did not find room service coffee to be too bad. We filled out the card the night before and also ordered a few pastries to snack on. We enjoyed our coffee on the balcony while the kids slept.
They did deliver really early one morning (over half an hour before the start of our specified timeframe) and knocked very loudly that time as well. They woke me up earlier than I was expecting and I didn't get that silent cup of coffee before my kids were in full force, I was not a happy camper that morning.

Yes they do knock, however if you don't want to wake your DH you could always head up to Cabanas and grab a few things to take back to the room before he wakes up.

Just a tip for anyone using the Cove Cafe. You have to pay but the coffee is good and if you are avid coffee drinkers like DH and I, its worth it. There is a frequent buyer card that they will stamp for each coffee. I think you get a free one after you purchase 10 beverages (not exactly sure)? W 2 of us it filled up fast. I just kept it in the lanyard w my KTTW card so I didn't loose it.

On our Fantasy cruise this summer, the coffee was the Joffrey's concentrate (even in Remy!) and it was not to my taste. It tasted like better-than-average instant coffee, like maybe Starbucks Via. I like Starbucks Via better, but it might be more of a roast/style thing.

The espresso was great, and you can get it at Cove or any of the restaurants (for a fee, obviously). I just started drinking cappucinos and americanos.

This makes me wonder if we can just pack our beans and cafe press, which is how me make coffee every day at home. I'm guessing we can and, if so, that's a good option and a bit less expensive than a pour-over. I'll just pack it around and fill it up with soft items. Thanks for the idea!

It used to be Nescafe, and now I think it's Maxwell House? Either way, it's probably the worst coffee you'll ever drink.

I think that the Nescafe is the worst coffee you'll ever drink. I was never able to finish it for breakfast. It didn't even taste like coffee. The coffee this past July on the Magic was drinkable at least. Not fantastic, but drinkable. Coffee at dinner was better as was the coffee in the MDRs even for breakfast or lunch. I don't know if it's the same coffee as what's in Cabanas or on deck but, if so, maybe it's just because it's fresher in the MDR than in the gigantic carafes.

It's one free one for every 5 drinks. Sometimes I've been told that you can't get a free alcoholic coffee drink with the card (although you get one stamp for them) but sometimes they do. You can also bring them on different cruises, so if you don't fill it on one cruise, hang onto it.

I'm a coffee addict and have a Nespresso machine at home. The standard coffee on board is not good. It is drinkable when I need my morning jolt, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The coffee from Cove Cafe (or Promenade Lounge, or Outlook Cafe) was much better. Between dh and I, we got 2 free coffees on a 4 day cruise with the coffee card.

We bring our own coffee and a French Press coffee maker. You can get hot water at the coffee dispensers or ask for some from room service. (Don't forget to tip Room Service).

But then you would be trusting food/coffee that had been sitting outside the door, unattended. Eep.

The key is to get up shortly before the time you asked them to come, and to be near the door and ready.

My family sleeps SO well on cruises that DS and DH have never once woken up when I've gotten up earlier than them.

I see it as an espresso kiosk, not a coffee shop exactly. The lattes there are decent.

Bring a nice coverup with you and then you're fine. Weirdly, Target (even here in western WA, where we are having *cold* temperatures unlike so much of the rest of the country in this last few weeks) has swimsuits and several cute coverups in their women's department. Just bought a coverup yesterday!

The one I had (from Land's End) is a weird white one that just doesn't feel that nice to me. But the one I got yesterday has a hood, it has grey and white stripes, and just looks more "dress" like, not as "robe" like. I'd feel OK going to the main espresso kiosk indoors (or the one on the pool deck) in it.

This discussion boils down to - People's taste in coffee is all over the place! I've gone from instant to drip to French press to expresso machine to those K-cups, powder to grinding just before brewing, light roast to expresso roasts. Depending where I am on the coffee pendulum, DCL coffee is good to just ok, it is never as bad as cafeteria coffee.
