A question regarding cruising on points - When you make your reservation with points, can you request a certain cabin? I understand that you would select your category and date, but did not know how other detailed requests are handled.
Yes, you may request a stateroom when you reserve the cruise. Keep in mind that many cruises begin booking up to 2 years ahead, so a particular room may have already been assigned, but if available, DVC point reservations will have the opportunity to reserve a specific room (or area) on the ship.
I just want to add to Mary that if you have a particular area in mind, contact DCL to confirm cabin choice/availability before requesting it through MS. Our experience (3 cruises on points) has been that DVC does not offer a lot of cabin choices. We have to be ready with our selected cabin choices prior to calling DVC. We've always run into MS offering us only a select few cabins when we have already researched and found more choices through DCL. Our friends who cruised with us 2 years ago and are cruising again in August have run into the exact same problem.
We are using points for our Disney Cruise this summer. I booked it last year through MS and had no problems. I gave MS a couple of rooms that I wanted and they were able to secure one of them for me. It was really a pleasant experience since I was kind of inexperienced with making reservations outside of DVC resorts. We are anxiously awaiting our cruise and BW visit.
